This Week in Reading: Return of the Slump

Hello to everyone out there that’s still checking in here. This past week I didn’t get much reading done at all and didn’t even finish a book. Not even one of the Vampire Academy books which are usually super quick reads for me.

I had a really bad anxiety week. Both of my bosses were out sick all week. Every day I didn’t know if they were going to be feeling better or not and had to constantly juggle appointments around. I had to cancel all my events for the week outside of work because I wasn’t sure if I had been exposed to covid or not. I was stressed about passing on something to my husband and in-laws even though I’ve been vaxxed. Then on Wed. one of my bosses texted me saying they had tested positive. Friday morning I got tested and mine came back negative but even so I didn’t go to Capclave convention on Saturday just to be safe. Meanwhille our painter at work, who had been in the hospital with covid for three or four weeks, passed away over the weekend. This is something I’m still processing.

Because I’m having a hard time reading I’ve been channeling that nervous energy into giving my dining room a bit of a makeover. New curtains, new tablecloth, etc. Then this weekend I decided I wanted to buy one of those wingback chairs from Ikea and put it in there. Only it didn’t fit in the space I was going to put it in quite right so I had to rearrange some of the furniture which also meant taking down some pictures and rehanging them. It’s been a lot of work! I also went through everything in the room and have purged some things. Anyway, I still have some wall art to deal with. I posted some pics on twitter but will post some here once I am 100% done the transformation.

Some more new books arrived in the mail this past week! Not that I’ll get to them any time soon at my current rate of reading, but a girl can dream.

  • Light From Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki
  • Dark Rise by C.S. Pacat
  • The Last Graduate by Naomi Novik

Looking forward to all of these! Anyway this week is going to be another Hell week at work I am sure. I have no idea if either of my bosses are feeling better. There are a ton of appts to be dealt with and I have renovations I need to get on the calendar. My bosses have lost a long time friend. And not to be callous but we need to find a new painter. Honestly, really not wanting to deal with life this week. I wish I could just bury my head in the sand and pretend nothing exists but things don’t work that way, unfortunately. We’ll see if I manage to get any reading done but I am not feeling real hopeful at the moment. Remember to take care of yourselves, life changes on a dime.

Oh no, sorry to hear about all the covid stress and your poor coworker😥 I’m not surprised your anxiety is so high right now. I guess just take it one day at a time and try not to worry about the next day. Take care, Lisa!

Oh, I’m sorry you’ve had such a bad week and that this one might be stressful too. And I’m sorry for the loss of your coworker.
That’s a lot to be dealing with and Covid scares indeed makes situations more stressful.

Sending you lots of love and hugs, Lisa! ❤ Just a reminder that everything you're feeling right now is valid, and it is absolutely okay to be sad and anxious. There is nothing wrong with feeling a full spectrum of emotions. ❤
