This Week in Reading: Fall Has Arrived

Hello all! I’m so excited because Fall is finally here! We have a couple more ‘warm’ days ahead mid week (up to the early 80’s) but then back down to the 70’s. We’ve officially shut off our AC for the season and have opened the windows to enjoy the weather for the few weeks it lasts. I’m not a pumpkin spice girl (frankly that mix contains all the spices I can’t stand LOL) but I do love some other Autumn faves and I can’t wait to get some cider and maybe enjoy some apple pie and other such things. Huzzah!

The bowties that I ordered came in and I put them on the cats. Jack doesn’t care (but he moves around constantly so I can’t get a picture) but Loki is NOT pleased. Still, he can’t get it off so he’ll just have to get used it it. He looks quite dapper if I do say so myself. It’s become a little frayed. Never fear – I ordered a whole bunch more. 😉

This past week has been mostly okay but I was plagued with low-level anxiety which affected my concentration and made it tough to read. Nonetheless I did manage to finish a single contemporary romance novel as well as make some progress on the Elantra book as well. I also had a bunch of new books arrive Tuesday! Tis the season for new releases. Not sure when I’ll get to any of these but glad to have them in my pile.

  • Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao – this looks AMAZING
  • A Song of Flight by Juliet Marillier – the latest of her Warrior Bard series which I’ve been loving
  • Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune – can’t wait to check out his latest

Not sure what I’ll be reading this week. I do hope to finish up the latest Elantra book by Michelle Sagara and then the last two Vampire Academy books by Richelle Mead became available through my library so I have those in my pile. I’d also like to try and get to the new Sarah Pinsker novel because I hopefully will be seeing her at CapClave – the local DC SFF convention – on Saturday. If things go according to plan. I’m looking forward to seeing some book friends in person again! Also, Peter S. Beagle is a guest of honor so it should be a good time.

What are you all reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to catch up!

I’m happy for fall too 🙂 but not so happy for the coming cold. We’ve cut our AC as well but keep the windows closed and still feel chilly anyway, lol. I’ve already started rocking my sweatpants and socks inside lol.
Hope you have a great time at CapClave!
