I managed to finish 18 books altogether in June. Now, before you’re impressed, 2 of them were middle grade fantasy novels, and 3 were novellas. I did go on a bit of a reading binge the middle two weeks of the month, so that helped boost my numbers too. 14 reads were SFF, while 4 were Romance. 1 of the romance novels was a re-read (Red, White, and Royal Blue–I can’t get enough of that book!).
I’m doing pretty good with my 20 Books of Summer reading challenge. I’ve read 4 books from my physical TBR pile so far, 1 eARC, and 1 audiobook. That leaves me 19 books to go! (I’m doing 25 books because, well, I read a lot!). That doesn’t seem like much of a dent but a) I didn’t start until mid-way through June and b) I still have two months left! I think this is a totally doable goal but we’ll see what happens, as per usual.
Favorite Reads of the Month:
- A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World by C.A. Fletcher. Not sure how many good things I can say about this post-apocalyptic book, but I loved so much about it. So glad I gave this one a try.
- The Beast’s Heart by Leife Shallcross. I LOVE retellings, especially BatB retellings, and this one worked really well for me.
- Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson. I loved this book so much. I totally fell in love with the characters and then I screamed about this all over twitter as I read it. There were some good twists too. 🙂
- The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang. This book left me SHOOK, y’all. That is all.

Plans for July:
Plans for July are just to keep on trucking with this 20 Books of Summer TBR pile. I don’t have anything huge going on for the month. I think I’m going to focus on review requests and ARCs a bit more, and maybe knock out a couple of more bingo squares with some vampire reads.
That was my month! How was yours? Do you have plans for July? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
You did great! And it seems like I have a ton of reviews to read, because all those books seem amazing!
Thank you! 🙂
Even not counting the graphic novels and MG, you did way better than I ever could! July is going to be great, I have so many good books to read. Also a four day weekend coming up that will help with reading time😁
Oooh, I hope you get lots of good reading in cor July, Tammy. Glad to hear you have some good stuff lined up. I was hoping to get a 4 day weekend but my boss is a scrooge. (Literally all of our vendors have off but he still is making us work whyyyyyyy)
Well done on June…even with a few short ones in there 18 is great. I’m 29 since January and finding that most suitable!
Thanks! Everyone had their own pace. I used to do about 50 a hear, 29 is highly respectable!
Great reading month!
I’m picking up sorcery of thorns next, so really glad to see it made it to your favourites!

I really think you’ll love it!
I’m impressed anyway 🙂 Looking forward to reading A Boy and His Dog…
Thanks! Hope you love it. 🙂
Sounds like you had a great reading month!! (And you don’t need to point out that some of your books are tinier :p they totally still count!) I hope you have a great July!
Thank you! Hope you have a great July too. 🙂
I’m actually in the middle of re-reading Red, White, & Royal Blue too! That book is such a delight. Maybe one day I’ll get around to reviewing it. 😂
Delight is the perfect way to describe it. 🙂
Look at all those books you read, that’s amazing!!! I hope you have a wonderful July, Lisa!
Thanks, Kal! Hope you have a great month, too!
As usual you had an incredibly impressive month. Hope this one is working out as well for you – mine is not.
Lynn 😀
Thanks, Lynn. This month has been a bit of a miss so far for me, hoping things pick up this weekend! I hope your month improves!
