This Week in Reading: 2021 Continues to be Crap-tastic

Well I didn’t make any progress reading last week because my father unexpected passed away on Wednesday night. He had been sick recently over the summer but was doing better and going in for a procedure on Friday for his heart but then he suddenly took a turn and….well, that’s about it. We all rushed up to the hospital and were able to be there with him for the end.

I’ve had a complicated relationship with my father over the years but obviously still dealing with a lot of emotions and also all of the work that comes with a close relative passing. I’ve been spending almost everyday with my mom and brother helping to take care of things and also helping my mom clean up the house because my dad was just a bit of a hoarder. There’s a whole lot of stuff going on and I’m mentally and physically exhausted.

So, sorry this hasn’t been much of a book blog lately but this year has been a bit of a mess to say the least. I did get one new book in the mail this past week, one I am very much looking forward to so hopefully I will have the time and energy to pick it up soon.

A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to squeeze in any reading this week as I’ll still be busy helping my mom with things whenever I’m not at work. Stay safe out there, friends. ❤

Oh gosh I’m so sorry, I have a complicated relationship with mine too and I don’t even know how I will feel when he passes. Be kind to yourself this week! 💜

Oh no Lisa, so sorry to hear about your dad😥 My dad is going through some tests right now for his heart and it’s very worrisome. Take care, hugs!

Thanks Tammy. Best wishes to you and your dad! My dad’s heart issue came on suddenly but we have a huge history of that on his side of the family so even though I was sudden I can’t say it wasn’t somewhat expected. :/
