The Sunday Post #61

thesundaypost

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog. I mostly use it to catch everyone up on real-life shenanigans, latest book hauls, and how things have been going in general.

Random News And Goings-On

Not really much happening this past week. Of course my reading hasn’t been great and I’m still having issues trying to write reviews and I still haven’t blog hopped in forever because I’m terrible. And even though I’ve been reading they’re not the books I should be reading (once again). SIGH. Anyway, work was okay last week and we got off early on Friday. Then Friday night I met up with one of my oldest friends (we’ve been friends since middle school) to go to the Orioles baseball game. It was fun! I feel a lot better going out places now that I’ve been vaxxed but I’m still being precautious and wearing a mask and trying not to get too close to other people. Luckily the Orioles suck so attendance was super low and we could spread out. Saturday I hung out with my husband, went to brunch, did some shopping for house stuff, went to dinner, went for a walk, then came home and played a board game. This one is called Calico and is half strategy and half luck. My husband won two times in a row and I rage quit because I’m a sore loser lol.

New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy

Physical Books

Only one new physical book–phew! So glad because my TBR is out of control with all these preorders. I think I have more arriving soon too lol. Anyway, The Ship of Stolen Words is another middle grade from Fran Wilde and I’m looking forward to checking this out eventually. Isn’t that cover great?

Ebooks

Two new ebooks! One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston. This one is a….sort of sci-fi romance? Definitely spec fiction romance. Anyway, the voice in this one is totally different from Red, White and Royal Blue but eventually I got used to it and I really loved it! If you’re looking for a romance that also features found family, here you go. Obviously I read this one as soon as it arrived on my kindle app this week. The other ebook that I got this week is Jay’s Gay Agenda by Jason June which is another romance and I’m looking forward to this one too! It probably won’t stay in my TBR for very long. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Audiobooks

Still on that audiobook ban. ๐Ÿ˜€

That’s the news for this week, see you next time!

I am in dire of a romantic dinner out (but I would take a non romantic one in a pich, it is pretty easy to make me happy sometimes! ๐Ÿ˜œ). I get to eat out for work, and I was pretty lucky that way, and I had a couple of lunch because we were out doing stuff and it was just more convenient to eat out and finish the stuff than going back home and going out again but… But I am missing the anticipation for the evening, the prepping up (I am a jeans and t-shirt girl at heart and I usually can’t be bothered with makeup, if not just a touch if the mood strikes, but sometimes I like to dress up and maybe don some lipstick!!) and the pleasure to spend an evening out.
But I think I have complained enough!
And there is always time to read what you should, if the mood takes you in another direction well, swing with it! At least you will be reading what you are really wanting to read!

My husband and I actually go out to eat, probably more than we should, but it’s always been such a huge part of our life from when we first got together twenty years ago! I am trying not to eat out at all during the day though because then it just gets too expensive eating out that often. Oh, I know what you mean. I’m also jeans and a t-shirt but I do love looking a little dressed up now and then–like it boosts the confidence or something. ๐Ÿ™‚
      Thank you, Susy!

Hahaha, yeah I think it is but I am kind of a sore loser because when it comes to games I’m a bit over-competitive. That is definitely something I need to work on LOL.
Thank you so much! Take care! โค

I have never heard of that game and Iโ€™m laughing at the rage quit lol. Youโ€™re not horrible sometimes you just have to step back and do what you need to do for you. I hope you get your mojo back soon but until then donโ€™t beat yourself up over it.

    • waytoofantasy says:

LOL! They did actually win the night we went so yay!
It must be peak cicada because they are very loud. Weirdly I don’t have them by my house? Maybe we’re too close to water, I don’t know. But there are pockets of them nearby where there are tons of them!

      • Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum says:

We are getting a ton of them where I live, but I am more in the suburbs with a lot of wooded areas that have been around 17 years ago. When folks said it could get bad, I didn’t know how bad! I knew when I saw the nymphs crawl out of the ground and start climbing up the trees that there were a lot of them, but now they’re everywhere, and I can’t walk the hundred feet or so to the school bus stop with my kids every morning without having to dodge them flying into my hair or face! When I opened my garage to take the garbage bins out to the curb last night, about a dozen flew in, lol. You’re lucky you’re not getting many of them, they’re so gross!

      • waytoofantasy says:

I think it must be the water because our area hasn’t been developed much in the last 40 or so years lol. I do remember when I was a kid we went out to Gambrils and it was like that there, cicada bodies everywhere! I remember how crazy it was. We do have them a lot in the wooded areas around the beltway and when you drive you hear them and they fly into the road.

I’m starting One Last Stop today, and I’m just a bundle of excited nerves! Jay’s Gay Agenda is also on its way to me in the mail, so hoping I can get to that one soon. I’m away this weekend, so I’m trying to read a bunch this week and then have a lot of light reads for the weekend.

    • waytoofantasy says:

Oh I hope you are loving it or have loved it if you’ve finished it. One Last Stop was really good! I’m looking forward to Jay’s Gay Agenda too–probably will read that one soon. Hope you’re having a great week, Mary!

My reading also hasn’t been great this past week. It seems to be like swings and roundabouts for me. One week three books, the next can barely fit one in. Hey ho.
    Enjoy your sci-fi romance.
