#WyrdAndWonder: Currently Reading

Hello and welcome to another Wyrd & Wonder Challenge prompt! Luckily? I don’t have many reviews going on right now because I still seemed to be blocked on some aspects of book blogging but that frees up my time to participate in more Wyrd & Wonder prompts, so here we are! I also should probably thank this event because without it these days my blog would still be quite empty as I just can’t think of other things to write at the moment–these challenge prompts are giving me life!

Anywho. Today’s prompt is Currently Reading. Now, I usually do my currently reading on Monday’s but I’m hoping (cross my fingers and my toes) that I’ll have gotten through several books this weekend because I plan to dedicate myself to reading all weekend long. We’ll see how it goes!

PREPARE FOR THE MOST (OVER)AMBITIOUS WEEKEND READING PILE EVER

So most of these I’ve been reading for quite a while now. I’m almost finished Song of Blood & Stone by L. Penelope–I think I have about 100 pages left. Should be able to knock that one out pretty quickly. I just started Earth Roars by Kara Jaynes–this is a series I discovered when doing my all-vampire theme bingo card back in 2019-2020 and the latest is out. This is a silly series but utterly consumable and I’m hooked! Luckily they are short, quick reads. Should be able to knock this one out quickly as well. The two most challenging books here will be The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri and The Age of Witches by Louisa Morgan. Only because the latter is an audio and while I’m about 65% through I don’t know when I’m going to squeeze in some audio time and the former because…well I’ve been working on The Jasmine Throne for some time and while I have made some progress (21% in) I’m still far behind. I guess my strategy will end up being ‘save that for last!’ 😉

But wait, there’s more! Because I’ve TOTALLY lost my mind I also have all of these library books to get through. I have volumes 25 and 26 of Yona of the Dawn by Mizuho Kusanagi and volume 6 of Witch Hat Atelier by Kamome Shirahama. The manga shouldn’t take me long to get through at all. But I also have a digital copy of Legendborn by Tracy Deonn out from my library. This one’s not due back for several days but I do want to get to it before it expires and I have to go back on a wait list. I’m hoping it will also be a compulsive read and quick going.

So that’s my weekend reading plans. Am I being too ambitious? Time will tell. Have you read any of these? What do you think? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

I do want to get to at least one of Tasha Suri’s books this month. Legendborn is also in my library pile. I’ve heard lots of good things. I’ve also been loving the Yona of the Dawn series and I want to get back into Witch Hat Atelier.

Yona of the Dawn is so much fun and I just love it, can’t stop singing its praises. It’s got such a hopeful bent to it and probably one of the most interesting villains I’ve come across.
I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve read by Tasha Suri so far. And I’ve heard so many great things about Legendborn too! Definitely looking forward to getting to that one (hopefully tomorrow). Happy reading!

I did manage to get a lot of reading in! It was a nice weekend. I didn’t get all of them finished but it was a good time. I’m enjoying Legendborn so far. It’s got an interesting concept and I’m loving the characters.
