Wyrd & Wonder has become one of my favorite events in the blogosphere during the last few years. As a celebration of all things Fantasy it’s really right in my wheelhouse. This awesome month-long event is hosted by Imyril, Lisa, and Jorie. One of the most fun things about this event is the level of engagement. There are also creative challenge prompts you can use as inspiration for posts on your blog or other social media. You can find out more about Wyrd & Wonder here. If you’re at all a fantasy fan I definitely recommend joining in the fun!
So even though I’m cutting down joining in events and challenges this year, Wyrd & Wonder is the one major exception because I love it so much. In honor of Wyrd & Wonder I’ll be concentrating on the Fantasy side of SFF this month in both my TBR and my posts. Since I’m like 85% Fantasy around here anyway you might not even notice much of a difference, but I am going to banish science fiction for the month and concentrate on my fantasy books. π
- For my audio selection this month I’ll be reading The Name of All Things by Jenn Lyons. This is a fairly large audio coming in at 25 hours so it’s probably going to take me most of the month to finish this one up. I’m excited for it though! I absolutely loved The Ruin of Kings–what a crazy ride that book was. I should probably find some kind of summary of book one as a refresher before going into this one but we’ll see how that works out LOL.
- My ebook selection this month will be The Black Tides of Heaven By Neon Yang (I know the cover still has their deadname on it and I really hope that gets updated soon). This is one I’ve been meaning to read for a while and actually is one of the oldest unread books on my kindle app (I’ve only been heavily reading ebooks for a few years now). In contrast to the above book, this one is a short one. Nevertheless I’m looking forward to finally getting to this one.
- For physical books I’ll also be reading a book that’s been in my TBR for a while and that is Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Morena-Garcia. Have heard lots of things about this one and I’m happy to check it out and see if it’s for me. Honestly, I’m excited to finally try some of her work!
So, those are my selections for Wyrd & Wonder this year! Should be pretty interesting reading with that variety of books. One of the many reasons I love Fantasy is that it’s such an umbrella with a huge variety of books to find within it. Looking forward to this year’s event! Are you participating in Wyrd & Wonder? Have you read any of these? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
Ooh nice, I signed up for Wyrd & Wonder just today! Can’t wait to read all of your posts for the same!!
Awesome! Looking forward to it and to checking out others posts as well. π
I’m excited for Wyrd & Wonder too, and my kick off post will be this Friday. I have a bunch of science fiction books to read as well, so my month will be a mix. I hope you enjoy Gods of Jade and Shadow!
Nice! It’s my favorite event because, well, I’m all about fantasy LOL. But I do find myself reading more SF these days too. π
I hope you enjoy the event this time around!
Thanks, Tammy! I’ve actually heard mixed things about it but it sounds like my type of book so I’m hopeful. π
Have fun!! I will not join (I don’t think I can manage with work and life) but I will follow your fantasy quest!
Thanks! We’ll see how involved I get–probably less than last year because I just have so much going on right now, but it will be nice to get back to some blogging stuff even though I’ve been busy. Hope you’re doing well!
THE NAME OF ALL THINGS is largely from a completely different character’s POV, so while a refresher would be helpful, you might be able to get away without it. I think that one is my favorite in the series!
So excited about Wyrd and Wonder, it’s going to be another good year!
Oh, that’s VERY good to know. I was really sweating bullets about trying to remember everything from book 1. I mean, I didn’t even understand everything going on in book 1 while reading it so…LOL!
Wyrd & Wonder should be pretty fun!
I’ve read the first three and I don’t think I could explain the plot if my life was on the line. I still enjoy reading them in the moment though!
LOL, fair enough. In the moment is very much how I enjoyed book 1.
I have a W&W intro post scheduled too! I won’t quite give up sci-fi and thrillers in May, but will definitely try to emphasize fantasy!
I finally read a Thriller last month—The Guest List! Enjoyed that one.
W&W and SciFi Month are the two events I most look forward to every year, so I can hardly wait to see what’s in store for us all in a few days! See you there… π
Me too! They’re just so much fun and there’s a great sense of community during them.
I’m looking forward to see what you think of Black Tides of Heaven. I’m def participating. Will get a TBR up soon. I’m so excited, I can’t decide what to read, lol!
Yeah. I’ve been meaning to read that one for a while so hopefully I enjoy it haha. Looking forward to see what your plans are!
Yes! I love Wyrd and Wonder, I’m excited for it but also exhausted by work so really hope I manage to put some posts together and have fun with it.
I think I won’t be going all out this year but will have some posts here and there. Still easing my way back into the blog life lol.
I have been very slack with the event this year – I am reading at least but I didn’t make any real plans.

I did a few posts so far, will probably do more. The challenges are helping me while I’m still having a writing block with reviews.
