Oh hey guess what? Still reading the same books from last week because I only got in spurts of reading here and there. Last week ended up being kind of crazy. On Monday I got my 2nd dose of the covid vax and then was pretty out of it with fatigue, chills and fever until 3am on Wednesday. Worth it, but still. And then one of my elder cats who has been sick off and on for a long time took a bit of a turn so I spent all of Thursday crying off and on thinking we’d have to have her put down, then all of Thursday evening at the vet where several tests gave us good news but we still don’t know what’s causing her illness and lymphoma hasn’t been ruled out. So now she’s on about half a dozen different meds to help her digestive stuff and I dropped her off this morning to get an ultrasound. I guess we’ll find out more info later today and take whatever the next steps are from there. Even though I knew this day would be coming soon it’s still really sucky. Anyway, on top of that we had long standing plans for company coming over on Saturday evening — first guests that weren’t family since January of last year. Luckily my husband did most of the house cleaning but I still had quite a bit to do Saturday morning. Sunday was somewhat relaxing? I got some reading in. But then my brother in law came over for a few hours to play board games. And in between I had to keep checking on the cat and giving her meds. So. Yeah. I wish I could have gotten more reading in but circumstances, you know?
Once again in ebooks I’m working on The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri. I made just a tiny bit of progress on this one. I do really love the world in this one and the stuff about the rot is interesting. I’m still really early into it (like 11%) so we’ll see how it goes!
In audio I’m still working on The Age of Witches by Louisa Morgan. I’m enjoying this one quite a bit, I wish I could dedicate some solid listening time to it but so far I’ve only been able to listen to it in short spurts here and there. I do have some monotonous spreadsheet stuff I have to do at some point this week so maybe I’ll get some listening time in then. I am just really intrigued by the characters in this one. I love how she writes flawed characters and women with such different personalities and outlooks on life, etc.
As far as physical books, I’m also still working on The Library of the Dead by T.L. Huchu. I did make a good amount of progress on this one at least when I got some time to sit on my porch on Sunday and read for a bit. So I’m at least a third of the way through. I’m really loving this! The main character is fantastically written, the world is interesting, etc. Can’t wait to see where this one goes!
I have no idea how my reading will go this week. The situation with my cat is uncertain and I do have some volunteer work to do for r/fantasy. And I have to start catching up on some blog things at some point–start planning for Wyrd & Wonder, working on reviews, finish some more review copies, etc. I guess somehow things will come together. What are your reading plans for this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat (even if it’s taking me a while to get back to y’all these days.)
I hope your cat will get better soon, dear. ❤️
Thank you. Unfortunately she’s got cancer so we’ll be doing palliative care.
Oh dear, I am so so sorry. Be strong. I send you a big hug ❤️
Thank you. ❤
Sorry about your cat, Lisa 😥 Fingers crossed and sending good thoughts your way!
Thanks Tammy. The news wasn’t good as I feared but we’ll probably still have her with us for a bit longer.
Sending so much love to you, Lisa! ❤ Cats are truly the foundation of love for me, so my fur babies are sending all their good wishes and healthy vibes to yours.
Thanks, Mary. Unfortunately it’s not great news. But that is life.
I’m so sorry to hear about your cat Lisa. I hope y’all are able to figure out what is going on and get them on the mending path. Y’all are in my thoughts!! 💕
Thanks, Misty.
You’re very welcome!! 💕
I hope that the next tests will give you the good news you need for your cat! Keeping my fingers crossed… 🙂
Thanks. It’s not great news as I had thought so that is what it is. Unfortunately.
I’m very sorry to hear that…
Thank you.
Aww, I do hope there will be more good news for your cat and the week take a turn for the better.
Thanks. It’s not good news but such is life.
