The Sunday Post #54

thesundaypost

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog. I mostly use it to catch everyone up on real-life shenanigans, latest book hauls, and how things have been going in general.

Random News And Goings-On

Well, this past week was me riddled with anxiety. I don’t know what was driving my anxiety except things I kept putting off both at work and home and deadlines were coming up so that kind of ramped up my normal ‘seasons changing’ anxiety. But, the good news is that I did finally get a lot of those things accomplished and I’ve been mostly keeping up with things at home that I’ve already taken care of…now if I could just finish the other huge cleaning/reorganizing projects that I have to do. It’s a never ending cycle, it seems. Hah.

Anyway, my reading has been much better over the last week. So yay! I’ve managed to finish a few books. But my blogging has been seriously lacking. I’m hoping that I’ll get up the mood to start getting caught back up today. I just haven’t felt like writing reviews or really much of any posts. Thank goodness I was scheduled so far ahead! Unfortunately I’m nearly out of scheduled posts now. Really hoping that ‘blogging’ mood hits soon haha. *sweating*

New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy

Physical Books

Three new arrivals! I…may have a problem. Books are arriving faster than I can read them, whoops!

First up in The Ladies of the Secret Circus by Constance Sayers. I’ve seen several great reviews of this from fellow bloggers and it prompted me to pick up my own copy. I didn’t realize how thicc it was haha. πŸ˜€

My husband surprised me with the special Subterranean Press edition of The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells! Apparently I talked about this so much that my husband got up early the day of the sale and got a copy before they sold out. This suprise blew me away, I told him I’ve never gotten a more thoughtful gift (then he was a bit annoyed because he’s given me a lot of gifts over the years…lol).

Last but not least, my latest Goldsboro Fellowship book arrived. This month’s selection is The Shadow in the Glass by J.J.A. Harwood. I’ve not heard much about this one but the cover is amazing and look at those sprayed edges!

Ebooks

Wow, still no new ebooks! This might be a record! I’m really working on getting my digital TBR’s down and that’s been going great. (Of course, my physical TBR is ever expanding these days hahaha.)

Audiobooks

Still on my no new audio ban as well. That being said I think I only have 14 un-listened to audiobooks left in my queue now, so I’m catching up! I’m hoping by Summertime I’ll be able to get some new titles. πŸ™‚

Well, that’s the news this time around. Let’s hope that I can get caught up on blogging. Wish me luck!

I am struggling to keep up with my blog as well, to be honest. I was pretty busy with work and I feel super demotivated about pretty everything. I keep creating cleaning/reorganising projects on the side as well. I agree, those are neverending… πŸ™„

Motivation is tough to find sometimes! Or it’s like my motivation is being channeled in other directions right now. I hope it comes back to blogging soon but we’ll see. Good luck to you as well. ❀

Haha *sweating* over blogging is definitely a mood right now. I’ve been working up to at least making my posts (cos I cannot for the life of me ever manage to schedule ahead of time) but I’m still not engaging as much as I used to and I’m *tired*. I hope you have a less anxious week ahead! Also, that gift of the Murderbot Diaries is so nice! 😍 That’s not a box set but rather all the books compiled into one?

    • waytoofantasy says:

I definitely feel you on being tired. Tired is all its own mood too LOL.
Thanks, Dini! I’m hoping the anxiety passes soon too but we’ll have to see how it goes.
I love that edition of Murderbot Diaries! It’s so pretty. Yep, it’s all the four novellas compiled into one volume. They’re also going to be doing a special edition of Network Effect to match.

Haha I had a little chuckle at the nervously *sweating* over the blog comment. I’ve given up worrying about creating any blog content for the mo, I’ve just resigned myself to it being quiet until Wyrd & Wonder hits. Wish I was the kind of blogger that had a steady stream of content but I’ve accepted that’s not how I roll haha.

I do love these Sunday posts you do, one if the things I really like about your blog is it’s personal touch πŸ™‚

    • waytoofantasy says:

That’s a very chill attitude and I admire you for that haha. I wish I could be chill but I think I’m also way too much of a perfectionist in some ways so I always push myself too hard? If that makes sense. Not that there’s any ‘right’ way to blog–everyone has their own style and pace.

Thanks! Yeah, I’m used to being more personal I guess. For years I had a livejournal waaaaay back in the day and I guess I just got used to sharing all my bizniz haha. πŸ˜‰

I have plenty of times where I don’t feel like blogging and I usually just push through and do it anyway, and then I have times where I’m really in the mood and feel like working on posts non stop! I love that Murderbot book so much.
I was tempted to buy one but I think I have about four Sub Press books on preorder right now and I seriously need to stop!

    • waytoofantasy says:

I usually push through too but lately I just am so tired all of the time lol. I think I’m tired because I’m spending so much energy on anxiety. Ah well.
I also have those blogging moods! I hope one of those moods comes around again real soon because I need it haha.
I also love the Murderbot book! Those Sub Press books are gorgeous. I never seem to get to the sales early enough before things sell out so I’m impressed you have that many on order!

I feel you on the “blogging” mood, it can be so hard to find inspiration sometimes. Write about whatever you’re most passionate about at the moment maybe? Also, those books are SO gorgeous! The sprayed edges on the Shadowglass are beyond beautiful!

    • waytoofantasy says:

Thanks, Kaya! That’s great advice. I do have some reviews due but I think I will also pivot my other posts a bit and just see what I’m in the mood for. πŸ™‚
Thanks! I’m very lucky to have gotten these special editions because the are very pretty to look at.

Hope you enjoy The Ladies of the Secret Circus. I’ve seen quite a few good reviews for it too and it sounds like something that will end up on my massive TBR list.

I hope you enjoy the Ladies of the Secret Circus – it worked very well for me.
And, I understand about the blogging feelings – it happens to us all at times – I literally take a break when I need to. Sorry to hear about our anxiety – I find watching a comfort film – or a few does the trick for me.

I’m excited to read it after reading your review. πŸ™‚
I think my anxiety *may* finally be starting to settle down–I’ve been drinking decaf in the morning instead of regular coffee and that has been helping haha. I’m hoping that by the end of the weekend I’ll be feeling a lot better *crossing my fingers*

  8. Zezee says:

I totally feel you on trying to catch up on blogging. I wish I had some scheduled posts too because I can barely find time to whip up something these days and then I really don’t feel like wrestling with the Block editor to figure out how to publish/format the post the way I want to.

Anyway, you got some beautiful books there and shoutout to your husband for getting you that Murderbot book.

    • waytoofantasy says:

One of these days we’ll catch up on blogging lol. It’ll happen one way or another. πŸ˜‰
Thanks! I was so surprised about the Murderbot book! I couldn’t believe it. He did good. πŸ™‚
