The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Random News And Goings-On

I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday. Yay, no more 2020! May 2021 be a better year for us all.

I’ll admit I was a little sad around New Year’s Eve–we usually spend it over our friend’s place playing board games all night and being silly taking pictures after the ball drop. But this year that didn’t happen, obviously. Still we had a zoom hangout for a bit and my husband and I played some of our new games so it was still a fun night if not haunted a bit by the ghosts of NYE past… But our Christmas was very good and I’ll admit I didn’t mind having a low-key celebration for that. It was actually nice having my family over and my dad only criticized me about 5 times so that’s a vast improvement. πŸ˜‰

For reading, right now I’m just sorta randomly going through my TBR and picking a book that I feel in the mood for. Hopefully that will be the way I choose books from now on, for the most part. I do have these last two review books to get to but I’m not stressing about them because they’re both books I’m looking forward to and I think I might pick up one of them next–we’ll see. I could change my mind by tomorrow. I also have a bunch of manga I want to get to, a couple of which are library books so I probably should get on those soon…

As for blogging, I’ve been trying to stay on top of things and for the most part I have been but I admit I have to spend a day catching up on writing and scheduling out some posts. I have about 5 reviews in my drafts folder which is the most I’ve had in a while because I’ve been keeping up. But yes, seasonal depression is coming on strong and I’ve also spent a lot of time over the last month just zoning out watching TV instead of being productive. But that’s okay–sometimes we need to do that, right? I think now that we’re through the holidays I can start to get back to my regular routine. Here’s hoping.

New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy

Physical Books

I had a little bit of a Christmas book haul. The first batch were gifts to me – The Library of Legends by Janie Chang, Burning Roses by S.L. Huang, Ambergris by Jeff VanderMeer and a nonfiction book – The Warrior Queens by Antonia Fraser. The next batch were gifts to myself with some of my Christmas cash. I’ll probably be picking up some more gifts to myself over the next month or so but we’ll see. πŸ™‚ I picked up The Beautiful and The Damned by Renee Ahdieh and Fangs by Sarah Anderson. This is a very Lisa themed book haul. πŸ˜‰

I also got my Owlcrate shipment (yes, I signed up again, I can’t help myself it seems) and even though I had guessed what book it was before hand I was sooooo excited to receive a copy of These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong. The inside of the dust jacket is artwork! I wish more books did this. πŸ™‚

Ebooks

Since my last post I have picked up a few more ebooks as well–I can’t resist! Now, I have added a lot to my plate once again but a lot of these are romances so I’m not anticipating them taking a long time to read through.

  • How the Dukes Stole Christmas – historical romance anthology
  • To Catch an Earl and The Princess and the Rogue by Kate Bateman
  • Girl Gone Viral by Alisha Rai – I love Alisha Rai’s romances and I need more in my life. πŸ™‚
  • Escaping Exodus by Nicky Drayden – another sale book, I’ve been wanting to read this one for a while.
  • The First Sister by Linden A. Lewis – so excited to see this on sale! I just had to pick this up.
  • A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas – this is the 4 book set and I couldn’t resist it, I keep meaning to reread book 1 and then finish the series.

And that about sums up the news for this week, see you next time!

Happy New Year! I really don’t mind low-key celebrations (my social anxiety loves them). Everyone deserves taking a break to relax and watch some TV.

Hope you enjoy your new books.

    Happy readings! πŸ™‚

Yeah, for most things I don’t mind low-key celebrations but I did miss my friends this year for New Year’s since we have such a tradition.

I do love relaxing though–that’s always nice when you get a chance to do it. πŸ™‚

      Thank you so much!

happy new year! I’m glad you had a decent holiday, and I’m excited for when those reviews come out πŸ˜‰ no pressure though, and I hope you have a great 2021!

Happy New Year. Shame you couldn’t spend it with your friends but hopefully next year??
Lots of lovely books in your haul. I hope you fly through all those romances and they work their magic on you.

I’m with you on NYE. My best friend & I have been making gourmet grilled cheese and watching about three Disney movies every NYE for the last five years, and this was the first time we couldn’t. We cooked together over Facetime, but didn’t end up watching a movie, and it just made me miss her so much even though she was right there on the screen.

My goodness, the inside of that jacket for These Violent Delights is just stunning. I love when books just go a little more on the design, and this one definitely takes the cake!

    • waytoofantasy says:

Right, same with my friends. It was nice to hang out over zoom but it wasn’t the *same*.

Yes, that jacket is amazing! I was totally surprised by it. I don’t know if it was just for the Owlcrate version or if they all have that.

Oh damn, that inside cover artwork for These Violent Delights is something else… Gotta say, as someone who barely reads paper books anymore I do miss stuff like that.

    • waytoofantasy says:

It is! And I wasn’t expecting it so it was an extra nice surprise. πŸ™‚

Yeah, I don’t read as many paper books either but I can’t stop myself from buying them–especially the pretty ones. LOL
