Hello friends. Last week I finished FOUR books (thanks, three day weekend!)–three fantasy novels and a romance. And now that it’s officially January I’m looking to start off my blogging and reading year on the right foot. Unfortunately (?) I spent most of Sunday catching up on writing reviews and I am once again behind on blog hopping so I hope to be catching up with you all during this week. I hope you’ve all had a very happy New Years!
As I finished off the book I was reading on Sunday night I came into a dilemma–I’m not sure what book I’m in the mood to read next! Noooooooo. Has this ever happened to you? It’s rough.
So, what’s a girl to do when she can’t figure out what to read? Take a look at YE OLDE TBR PILE, apparently. In print I’m going to check out my eARC of Winter’s Orbit by Everina Maxwell. This is a book I’ve been looking forward to and since it’s kind of a romance I’m hoping it will help pull me out of whatever stupid funk I’m in. *crosses fingers*
In audio I’ll be starting up with Battle Ground by Jim Butcher. I’ve put this one off long enough and now it’s time I get to it and see what all the fuss is about. Will I love it? Will I hate it? Only time will tell. Audiobooks are taking me a while now days due to the very, very short commute I have so I expect this one to take me a while. Or maybe I’ll be so into it I’ll listen a lot at home. Guess we’ll see.
Hoping these reads work out for me and that I’m not gearing up for a slump. Struggle town, be gone! I banish thee back to 2020! Anywho. What are your reading plans this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
Enjoy your reading!
I’m currenly reading an ARC for Daughter fo teh Salt King, really enjoying it so far!

Oh, that sounds interesting! I’ll be looking forward to your review on that!
Well your way seems far more sensible than my start 5+ books and see if any stick
I have tried that method before LOL
Haha this post title has been 100% my mood since mid-year 2020 🤣 I never have any idea what mood I’m in lately and I always find that’s the case for me whenever I finish a book and don’t have one already lined up to read next. Winter’s Orbit looks really good (love that cover). I hope you enjoy both reads, Lisa!
It’s so tough! Like, I hate it when my mood is so wishy washy. I hope we both get our moods in gear soon!
Thanks, I’m hoping that I’ll enjoy it! ❤
I can’t wait to start Winter’s Orbit, but I need to get through my January pile first. I’m curious to hear your thoughts!
Hopefully your January pile won’t take too long. 🙂 I should, hopefully, have a review up later this month. If all goes according to plan. *crosses fingers*
I hope you enjoy Winter’s Orbit. 🤩
This week I’ll ready my ARC of As Far As You’ll Take Me.
Oh, that one looks so heartfelt! I hope you enjoy it. ❤
I’ve spent the past week organizing my 2021 TBR on Google Sheets — full-on with color codes, genre tags, date it got added to my TBR, Goodreads summary and so forth. I already have +500 books on it, can you imagine? Too many books, too little time. But I can’t say it wasn’t fun! Haha
Oh wow, that’s amazing! I love organizing stuff like that, sounds like a fun project. Our TBR’s are always going to grow…..I really do wish there was enough time to read them all! 🙂
Lol! That sometimes happens to me – not knowing what I’m in the mood to read next. It can be fun and it can be annoying too because you (well, I did) end up just picking up random things to try until something sticks.
Yeah, I picked a random thing at the end of last week and it worked out so I’m hoping that Winter’s Orbit also works out, but it can be a little annoying when you’re just feeling pretty ‘meh’ about every book you look at trying to figure out what to pick up haha.
I am so curious what you’ll make of Battle Ground – particularly one plot development I would love to discuss with you after you write your review! 😀
I haven’t read any spoilers as I’ve been careful and yet I think I can guess what is coming based off of some of the reactions I’ve seen. If I’m right…it’s really going to depend on how it’s done. We’ll see! I’m eager to see how this shakes out–would love to discuss after! 🙂
Hope you love both of those books! No reading slumps allowed haha!
Thanks, Kaya!
Haha, I would love to banish reading slumps to a dark corner somewhere. 😂
It’s a cunning plan and I hope it works well for you and helps shake off that reading funk.
Lynn 😀
Thanks! So far, so good. 🙂
Mood reader unite!
I had this exact problem this past summer. I narrowed it down to three options and then my BFF choose for me. She chose well and I was a happy camper. 🙂
That’s a fun way to go about it!
I have high hopes for Winter’s Orbit, I am going to try to read it at the end of the month, I’m in the mood for some romance as well! 😀
I just finished it and I really enjoyed it. There was a pretty good political mystery to it. Hope you enjoy!
This is the worst! When it happens to me, I end up just sitting on my bed staring blankly at my bookshelves for way longer than should be normal, eventually pull down a minimum of five books, and then wallow some more over which to choose. It’s terrible, haha. Fingers crossed you have some success with your choices!
LOL, yeah, that ritual is VERY familiar to me haha. The staring at the books, just hoping something will jump out at you calling ‘read me’. Thanks, I did wind up finding some good reads this week! So it all worked out somehow. 🙂
