Random News And Goings-On
So, my house renovations are done! No more workers running around my house. (Well, except our contractor is stopping by briefly to do a couple items on the final punch list including shampooing my carpet that got messed up during demo.) Yay. It’s been a really really really long two (plus) months but I’m glad that it’s finally finished and I’m pretty happy with the results. We’ve been busy getting some new things for the renovated rooms and organizing our stuff, putting it away, etc. We’re trying to make sure everything is kept in good shape so shelf liners everywhere, and also organized and easy to get to. We’ve purged a good amount of stuff as well so that’s felt good. I STILL HAVE SO MUCH STUFF TO PUT AWAY AHAHAHAHAHA.
Here are some pictures of my new kitchen! Sorry I don’t have ‘before’ pics, but trust me when I say it was hideous.
As for work, yes, I’m going to be starting a new job! I’m so excited because being an office manager is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. This is something I feel like I’ll be really good at. But also I’m nervous because I have to learn a whole new office environment and how to do things there, etc. Change is scary. I’m sure this will be a change for the better, though! I’m glad to be getting out of such a toxic environment finally.
I took a week off between jobs since it coincided with the end of our renovation. I’m planning on spending the next week putting away things, organizing things, deep cleaning rooms in my house, etc. I have soooo much housework to do. I got a good start yesterday and I’m already exhausted.
I also plan on catching up on blog stuff! I’M SO SORRY I’VE BEEN ABSENT FROM BLOG HOPPING. I’ve just had a lot going on. I haven’t even been able to get much reading done. But I do plan on getting caught up this week so expect some comments hitting your inboxes in the next few days!
New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy
Physical Books
I guess my book buying ban is officially over haha. Had some other new physical books rolling in the past couple of weeks. π
I bought myself a copy of An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson. Even though I have already read this one I really love it and wanted a copy for my library. I probably will reread it at some point. I also picked up a copy of the new Ashley Poston book, Among the Beasts & Briars. Very excited for this one! Also, isn’t that cover gorgeous??? Also! My first ever Subterranean Press book, Seven of Infinities by Aliette de Bodard! Couldn’t resist this one for whatever reason haha. π
My special Owlcrate edition of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab arrived! It was a pretty interesting box with some better and more useful things in it. I will enjoy the candle, I’m sure, and the block calendar is kind of fun. I am most excited about the travel mug though! It even has a strainer in it so I’m sure it can be used for tea somehow…. There was also a three year journal but I’m not sure if I’ll use that at all even though it looks really cool. Instead of having the days and such preprinted I wish it had just been a blank notebook. Nevertheless! The books looks AWESOME. It’s just a gorgeous edition and I can’t wait to read it.
Ebooks
I’ve picked up a SINGLE ebook since last time.
- Better Than People by Roan Parrish – this is a romance, seems like I’m reading a lot of romances lately! – have since read and loved it!
Audiobooks
No new audiobooks! I have a couple of credits but not sure how to spend them. I’m getting behind in audio so I changed my subscription temporarily to just the subscription with zero credits but you can still borrow included books for a couple months so that I can catch up for a bit.
That’s the news for this week, see you next time and have a great week, everyone!
So nice that the renovations are done! It looks good!
And good luck with your new job!

Thank you so much, Evelyn!
Your kitchen is gorgeous!! It makes me want to take a bulldozer to my kitchen, which is bad bad badπ¬ And that Owlcrate box looks like a good one. Hope you have a good week, Lisaπ
Thanks Tammy! Well, we had a crap kitchen since we moved in–under that floor is the original linoleum from 1960 so…lol. And no working oven for about the last 7-9 years! So I’m really happy to have an update. π
Oh, the Owlcrate was definitely a good one, lots of fun stuff inside.
Thanks, Tammy! Hope you do as well. I hope to get caught up on blog hopping soon, looking forward to catching up on all your posts!
The kitchen looks great! Our kitchen is on my list to would day remodel as well.
Thank you! Yeah, this has been needing to be updated since we bought the house 13 years ago! I’m so glad it’s finally done. π
Congrats on the completion of the renovations. It looks amazing!! I have been failing at my book buying lately too. I bought 4 books in 2 days lol. It has been a year long ban and while it hasnβt been 100% successful I have to say I think Iβve done a pretty good job.
Thanks, Misty! I’m just super glad to have it finished. π
I keep telling myself that sometimes you just need to treat yourself. Especially this year, things are rough, it’s okay to be kind to yourself now and then. π
Wow, nice kitchen, and congrats on the new job! Lovely OwlCrate box, too. I’ve been debating whether or not to read the book. Some reviews suggest that it has a slightly more positive portrayal of an immortal character. I hope it doesn’t end in her choosing to die, lol.
Thank you!
I have high hopes for the book, most of the reviews I’ve read have been good ones so I’m hoping that it’s my type of thing. π
The kitchen looks great! AND a new job?? Sounds like a fantastic way to end the year. π
Thank you! Yeah, it’s a lot of change all at once, but some good stuff so hopefully that means things are looking up. π
Awesome!! Congrats on the new job!! π
And I love the look of the kitchen backsplash looking great with the countertops. Looks really good!
Thank you! Yeah, I actually love the way the backsplash looks. It wasn’t what I originally had in mind but it turned out really great in the end. I had wanted a sort of teal colored backsplash–something less neutral– but once we got the countertop it just didn’t look good with it so we chose this backsplash instead. I’m really pleased with how it all looks together.
oh my gosh, sounds like an exciting week! your kitchen looks absolutely amazing!! hope your transition to a new job goes wellπ
Thanks! It was certainly eventful! π
OMG awesome new books, but seriously, let’s talk about your kitchen! It’s gorgeous, I love your backsplash! You’ve got an amazing theme going π
Haha, thanks! I’m super pleased with how it came out. It really is worth all the hassle the renovation was… lol
It was a long, hard road, but now you have finally reached your goal and your kitchen looks amazing! Enjoy it π
Thanks! Yes, it was really worth all the hard times in the end!
Your kitchen looks amazing and worth all the aggravation along with way I think. Kitchens are such tricky rooms to do – they really do spill over into every other room because there’s just so much ‘stuff’ tucked away in there. What a relief though. Hope the new job goes well – if you’ve started it now? I’m all messed up being behind with comments.
Lynn π
Thanks, Lynn! Yes, exactly, it was so much stuff to move.
I hope it does too. I start on Monday! I’m excited but nervous. π
