The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
Random News And Goings-On
Not a whole lot has been happening since last update–just a lot of reading (thank goodness!). I’m still mostly mood reading because that seems to be working for me. It does, unfortunately, mean that my lists of books that I wanted to read this summer has been….mostly tossed out the window. Oh well, a reader’s gotta do what a reader’s gotta do.
Things are moving along with our kitchen/bath remodel, we’ve been picking out countertops and backsplashes and cabinets and all that fun stuff, things are being ordered and staged but we still don’t have a schedule yet so I think I’ll be less anxious about it when I actually know some more details and can plan accordingly. I hate not knowing things!
Friday we started a new RPG campaign for a game called Overlight that one of our friends is running. Just a small group of four people playing over zoom. I don’t play a lot of RPGs but this one looked fun!
Anyway, that’s about it. Just trying to spend as much time reading. So that I don’t worry about whether I’ll have a job in another month or not (…the way business is going…who knows). And blogging. My boss will be working from the beach next week so I’m going to try and use that time to relax. And continue to look for other jobs. 🙂
New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy
I ordered the last two books in The Others series by Anne Bishop (Marked in Flesh and Etched in Bone)! I am loving this series SO MUCH. I blasted right through books 2 and 3 and am probably going to do the same thing with these two (so at least they won’t be in my TBR for long…).
I also picked up a hard copy of Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson because I LOVE THAT BOOK and only have an audio copy. Sometimes I just want the physical book as well. I mean, why not? (Am I the only one who does this?)
I got an eARC of Spellbreaker by Charlie N. Holmberg which I am VERY excited for, as I’ve become a fan of her work over the last couple of years after reading two of her series plus one stand alone. Can’t wait to check this one out because it seems right up my alley.
I broke down and bought a copy of Of Dragons, Feasts and Murders by Aliette de Bodard because my friends are all in love with this one and I love her writing anyway. I wasn’t planning on buying this but my hand slipped. 🙂
I also picked up Opal by Maggie Stiefvater which is a Raven Cycle novella that I had NO IDEA existed somehow? (Big thanks to Mary at Mary and the Words for bringing this to my attention).
And one other I picked up recently was The Many-Colored Land by Julian May because it was on sale! I have this in my physical TBR already but I’m finding that reading a combo of physical and ebooks is really working for me these days, I like switching back and forth between mediums depending on where I’m at when I’m reading. So was happy to pick up an ebook of this one.
My pre-order of Dreams from the Grave by J. Kathleen Cheney arrrived! Yay! It was tough not to dive straight into this one because I love the series so much, it’s one of my favorites.
There was a bit of a sale on some Claire North titles so I picked up both 84K and The Pursuit of William Abbey which were both only 1.99 (seriously who can resist that?!).
In addition, I also borrowed a copy of The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton because I’ve been wanting to read this one for a little while and a review over at Zezee With Books reminded me of that. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to read it before I have to turn it in LOL.
ANYWAY. THAT WAS A LOT. I ADMIT I WENT A BIT WILD PICKING UP EBOOKS THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS WHOOPS.
Only one audiobook, phew! Turns out that only the first book of The Company series by Kage Baker on audio? So I don’t know when I’ll continue that as my print time is more limited than audio. Anyway, I chose to pick up The Better Part of Valor by Tanya Huff which is the 2nd book in her Confederation series, one of the other sci-fi series I started this year.
That’s the news for now, see you next time!
