The Sunday Post #32

thesundaypost

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Random News And Goings-On

It’s been a few weeks since I posted one of these so I thought I’d give an update. Things are going…okay? My reading continues to be weird and I’ve been binge reading mostly romance and webcomics it seems, but I am finishing SFF books here and there–not as many as I’d like though.

Starting this week I’ll be back at the office 2 to 3 days a week for the next two weeks and then my boss will ‘reevaluate’ which means he’ll want us all back at the office full time–even though we can do our jobs remotely. Cuz fuck safety, am I right? Anywho.

I finished my hat project. It doesn’t look completely horrible for a first attempt! And I learned a lot of things along the way. I think I might attempt more hats in the future, practice makes perfect and all that.

I plan on starting another new craft project now that I finished that up. I got an embroidery kit in the mail. I’ve never embroidered before and I don’t know stitches from shit so we’ll see what kind of shenanigans I get up to with that. 😀

Still dealing with A LOT of anxiety and depression stuff and doing my best to get through things. Lots of anxiety about getting errands completed and having to go back to the office next week so not much I can do about it except take one day at a time.

New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy

Physical Books

My copy of Network Effect by Martha Wells arrived in the mail, wooohooo! I’m so excited for this one but I’m also in a weird reading mood so I don’t know…might start this one next or I might hold off, guess we’ll see.

Ebooks

I’ve been buying ebooks like nobody’s business the last week or two. Just going to list them because that’s easiest. A lot of these are romances because that’s what I’ve been in the mood for.

  • The Vampire Book Club by Nancy Warren (yet another new cozy mystery series from her that I need to start!)
  • A Dead Djinn in Cairo by P. Djeli Clark
  • The Lawrence Brown Affair by Cat Sebastian
  • Her Every Wish by Courtney Milan
  • Slippery Creatures by KJ Charles
  • Tempted by Megan Hart
  • Someone to Wed by Mary Balogh

I’ve read four of these this past week because that’s the sort of mood I’m in. GIVE ME ALL THE ROMANCE RIGHT NOW. 😀

Audiobooks

Since my last update I’ve gotten 3 new audiobooks, two of which I’ve read already!

  • Blood Debt by Tanya Huff – the last of her Vicki Nelson series
  • Night Shift Dragons by Rachel Aaron – the last of her DFZ series
  • Race the Sands by Sarah Beth Durst – this will probably be my next audio read

That’s the news for this week, see you next time and stay safe out there book friends!

Thanks, I hope so too. At least we work in a small office so hopefully less risk of exposure.
I’ve been having fun with my crafts! I’m glad I’m finally using some of my crafting supplies haha. 🙂

Yep, just take it a day at a time. Hopefully your boss gets to his senses and extend the time that you get to work from home. My employer is thinking to only allow staff who need to be in the office to work there a few times per week, maybe twice per week.

Hopefully, but we’ll see. My workplace is pretty toxic (because of the owner/boss) and we were all looking for jobs before this pandemic hit so…. yeah. Looks like we’re all stuck there for now. I shouldn’t complain, I’m lucky to still have a job right now, but some days I wish I would have just gotten laid off… (is that terrible? Lol)

      • Zezee says:

I remember you mentioning that it’s a toxic environment in a previous post. That does make it more difficult to return there. That’s a big decision to make then, and a tough one too considering the corona’s effect on the economy: whether it’s worth returning or to just quit.

      • waytoofantasy says:

I’m definitely not prepared to quit–a job is better than no job right now and I’m not ready to not have a paycheck (although we could make do things would be SUPER tight). If we got laid off at least it wouldn’t be of my choosing I guess is my thinking LOL.

Yeah, I feel you with work. I only had a week of “no work” since everyone in my company was furloughed, but then my boss asked me to start back part time. I was super nervous even though only a handful of us went back. But starting tomorrow I have to work FULL TIME and its killing me! I love having extra time to read or whatever, so I’m not too happy now😭 Good luck, hopefully the office is safe!

Yeah I have a feeling I’ll be back at the office full time in two weeks. At least we have off for Memorial Day and I have a feeling we’ll still be home for the most part on nights and weekends–there’s no place to go still and I don’t want to risk going out too much anyway. Thanks! Good luck to you too!

UGH, I’m so sorry that you’re already having to go back to work. I have a friend who’s boss has been like “I can’t wait to have you all back in the office” when everyone is doing their jobs fine remotely, and she lives in a hot spot. I hope your boss sees some reason, because there is no reason for going into the office right now when work is being done proficiently remotely. Stay safe!

    • waytoofantasy says:

Yeah, it’s sort of ridiculous. It’s because our governor lifted the stay at home order to a safe at home order meaning people can go out again and some things are reopening at 50% capacity or appointment only. Our cases have *plateaued* in MD, not really decreased yet, and our county is one of the harder hit ones so our county exec is not even letting stores reopen even though for inside traffic–only curbside pickup. Also the governor’s plan specifically states ‘anyone who can work from home should remain working from home’. And yet our boss is like ‘let’s get back to work!’. I know he thinks we’re not all doing shit at home but jokes on him because I’ve done more work while working from home than I do in the office so… ha HA ha. O.o Capitalism, wee! 🙂 I’ll tell you what if I get a mild case of the rona you bet I will be taking full advantage of that two-week paid coronavirus leave.
Anywho. Thanks Kal! Hope you’re able to stay safe out there as well. 🙂

Sorry you’be back to work – I really don’t understand the push people back if there is the possibility of working from home – but what do I know!
Your hat turned out great – and a first attempt. What’s next?
    Lynn 😀

    • waytoofantasy says:

Yeah, it is what it is, I don’t have much of a choice and at least I still have a job — so many people have been laid off. Then again, if business doesn’t pick up soon I may be in that boat so I’ve been saving up my money just in case.
Thank you! Well, I want to try my hand at embroidery and see how I do with that, if nothing else I’ll get to practice all kinds of stitches. Then maybe I’ll try to sew some other kind of garment but that might be a bit much as I have NO idea how to follow patterns and I’m pretty bad at sewing so I should probably start with something small lol.
