The Sunday Post #11

thesundaypost

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Random News And Goings-On

Well, this week was sailing right along until Thursday when I struck down by news that sent my anxiety sky-rocketing – my coworker had a job interview that morning and he may be leaving. To keep the story short, this would be horrible for me because I’d then be by myself in sales. There are some other things, but I won’t go on a work rant. 🙂

Then, we had to take my husband’s car to the shop again, for a different issue this time, and he called me to let me know it would be something like $1,600 to get it fixed and with all the other emergency stuff we’ve had to pay for this summer, well, it’s all adding up. So now I have to wait to get my car looked at because I think I need some suspension work done but I can’t pay for it right now. Ugh, why??? It’s the Curse 2 – Electric Curse-aloo.

In better, less complaining news, I’ve already had one job I applied for call me back and I might be getting an interview set up soon (I had to resubmit to another position). That was fast! Also, my weight loss continues to go well–I’m now down 34lbs. Which sounds like a heck of a lot, and it is no small achievement, however….because of my large size it’s hard to see much of a difference when I look at myself and that’s a bit frustrating. I am noticing some of my clothes fitting slightly looser though!

New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy

Physical Books

Only one this week – To Be Taught, if Fortunate by Becky Chambers. This is on my Fall TBR so hope to get it it soon. I’m also excited because it’s a novella so hopefully I’ll be able to knock this out quickly with the other couple novellas I have on there. 🙂

Ebooks

Only one ebook this week too – Vita Nostra by Marina & Sergey Dyachenko. I picked this one up because it’s gotten a lot of buzz from friends and also I’ve heard it mentioned by authors at book conventions on panels. It was on sale on kindle and those are hard to resist when a book is so cheap and I’m like ‘oh, I’ve heard of that and am somewhat interested’.

Audiobooks

Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff has arrived in spectacular and glorious fashion. WOOHOO!!! Jumped right into this one as soon as I could and am having fun with it so far.

Posts to Check Out from the Book Blogging Community

I have once again fallen way behind in blog hopping (although not as behind as before, so there’s that). So only a few posts to share and some of these are probably from the previous week, but still! If you missed them, check them out because they’re terrific posts. 🙂

the orangutan librarian has a fantastic post all about author appreciation. I love any post that likes to share the love.

Kathy @ Pages Below the Vaulted Sky has a great and detailed post about wouldbuilding, specifically sports in sci-fi and fantasy. This is such an excellent post, I love exploring different aspects of world-building and it’s true that sports is a thing that could be explored more in genre.

Dina @ SFF Book Reviews has posted a review highlighting Broken Places & Outer Spaces by author Nnedi Okorafor. Terrific review!

Sarah @ Hamlets & Hyperspace is talking about a September Challenge – Mythothon. I love all the different and creative reading challenges the community comes up with, and thought this one looked pretty fun. Even though we’re almost a third of the way through the month, there still may be time to join in!

That’s the news for this week, see you next time!

I didn’t even realize The Sunday Post was a meme.. I might have to join in. Appreciate the shout out- these were all great posts and I’m looking forward to your thoughts on Vita Nostra (because much like you, I’ve heard the buzz, but don’t know much about it)!

For a long time Sunday was a random post day but I got tired of trying to figure out what to do on Sundays so looked for a meme. I really like this one because it’s pretty customizable, you can post whatever kind of ‘news’ you want to share, make it your own. I’ve been enjoying it and it’s given me a little more structure.
I hope I get to Vita Nostra soon but it probably won’t be til next year at this point lol. 🙂

Return of the Curse! Drat – cars are such a trial and a money sponge.
I also can’t wait to start Darkdawn – although i’ll have to because my plate is a bit full atm.
Good luck with the interviews and well done with the weight loss – that’s brilliant.
    Lynn 😀

Yeah. The worst is that it’s both of our cars at once, again. At least last time I didn’t have to pay for repairs to mine since it was covered under insurance. These things are never convenient oh well, lol.
I’m enjoying Darkdawn so far, hope you’re able to get to it soon!
      Thanks, Lynn, appreciate it!
