Well, I didn’t exactly stick to my plan last week, again. So that means I’m even further behind than I was before going into my new fall reading challenge, whoops. I’m also still SUPER BEHIND in blog stuff but oh well. I’ll…catch up eventually I guess.
I actually did get a lot of reading in last week though. I finished up an audiobook and then read nineteen volumes (NINETEEN!!!) of a manga, Yona of the Dawn, which I totally blame on Kaya @ A Fictional Bookworm. πΒ But honestly, have to thank her for highlighting this series, may have missed it otherwise and it’s exactly my type of thing. It’s got action, romance, fantasy elements, humor, political scheming, a little bit of reverse harem going on, backstabbing (sometimes literally), front stabbing, betrayal, terrific characters with sometimes tragic backstories, characters with terrific story arcs, characters who you don’t know quite what to think of because they did a bad thing but also seem like a totally good person and why???? Anywho, for a shoujo manga there are a ton of battle scenes and strategy and practicing with weapons and I’m really digging it, it’s been a looooong time since I’ve been this into a manga. I see there’s also an anime so I’m going to have to watch that now. RIP all of my free time.
Anywho, that’s pretty much why I didn’t get much other reading done, WHOOPS.
ONE DAY I WILL FINISH THESE BOOKS ARGH!
Ahem.
So, this week looks a lot like last week. We have once again, The Girl with No Face by M.H. Boroson and Dreams of the Dark Sky by Tina LeCount Meyers. I’m really hoping to finish both of these up this time. I just need to buckle down and stick to my plan.
I’m currently about a third through the audiobook of Darkdawn by Jay Kristoff. Loving being back in this world so far and I’ve giggled out loud several times while listening. I didn’t get as much listening time in as I would have liked last week, hopefully this week will be better.
Finally, a non fantasy related book. You Are a Badass: How To Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero. I saw this one over on Zezee With Books and I thought, ‘Lisa, you could use that’ and decided to check it out from the library. Well, my audiobook hold came in so here we are! Looking forward to being a badass. π
I also hope to get to, if possible (and I know I’m being ambitious), Master of the World by Edward Willett. I was generously given a copy of this by the publisher and I feel terrible for not getting to it yet as it comes out this Tuesday (tomorrow!!). I’m hoping to have a review up soon, in the next couple of weeks. This is also my last eARC from netgalley, so once I check this off I’ll be all caught up again, phew!
Those are my plans, let’s hope I can stick to them this time! What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
What can I say, I have excellent tasteπ€·π½ββοΈ just kidding!π€£
You read all nineteen volumes?!?! That is IMPRESSIVE. Iβm so so happy you enjoyed it!! Good luck with your tbr for the rest of the week, I canβt wait to see your thoughts on all of these!!
You do! π
Yes, well I didn’t do much else this past weekend except read Yona of the Dawn so…lol. I’ll have to do a review post for them because I really loved them and have things to say! π
I can’t wait!
π
I never heard about that manga before, but it sounds very good!
Enjoy your reading!

Thanks! It’s been a lot of fun so far. π
Well, plans are great – but sometimes you just want to do something spontaneous and this sounds like a whole heap of fun. I look forward to reading your thoughts.

Yes, sometimes you just need to go off the path a bit lol. It was a lot of fun. π
Happy reading this week! And I hope You Are a Badass goes well for you. Sincero is very motivating and quite funny too.
Thank you! I’m very much looking forward to getting to it. π
I’m super behind, and you’ve reminded me that I haven’t even started Darkdawn yet! I am hoping to get ahead for October and read The Girl with no Face as well, probably not this week but hopefully by the end of the month. Good luck with your plansπ
So far I’m enjoying both of them, although I wish I were a little further through them than I am, haha (speaking of being behind!). Thanks, good luck with yours too. π
Loved the anime, but I wasnβt aware of the manga. I will have to find them.
The manga is soooooo good. I started the anime and I see they rearranged the order of things a bit and rely on flashbacks a lot in order to get the story started at a place further down the road, which was pretty interesting. π
It’s still ongoing in Japan so the story isn’t even finished yet! I still need to catch up with everything that is out there, if I can find it. π
