The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
Random News And Goings-On
I remain behind in everything, weeeeeeee. O.o Hoping to catch up some this morning and all day tomorrow and at least get two reviews written, as well as catch up on blog hopping and some other blogging stuff. And hopefully also get some reading in!
This weekend is a three day weekend for me, Monday is a holiday here in the US and a lot of people have off. Labor Day traditionally marks the end of Summer, but I’m hoping we have a few nice weeks left ahead of us as we head into Fall – the season of pumpkin spice everything. 🙂
Yesterday my husband and I took a little trip to this place about an hour or so away where there’s this awesome nature preserve. I hadn’t even heard of this place before, so I’m glad we finally discovered it because we had a fun time walking around and looking at animals. There are a lot that you can feed and pet. There’s also a ‘safari’ ride that goes through a bunch of paddocks and you get to feed even more animal. I hand fed a bison! And a camel! And a bunch of goat looking things. And an emu! It was a lot of fun, I felt like a little kid.
Today we’ll be going to my dad’s cousin’s place on the river for a pool party and barbecue. I expect we’ll be there a while, mostly because my husband will have to pry me away from the pool to leave (I really really really love swimming – it’s the one physical activity I’m good at!).
Overall, it’s been a pretty okay week and I think the curse is officially broken – huzzah!
New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy
I don’t really have any new books to talk about this week. However. I did some more pre-ordering, so expect some new things coming up all this month. I think I have something like 15 books on preorder now, welp. There’s a whole thread on twitter. Things got real, my TBR pile got called out, LOL. 😀
Posts to Check Out from the Book Blogging Community
I only have one post listed this week because I am so far behind in blog hopping. I’ll catch up with you all in the next day or two.
Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm started a Bookshelf Tour series. I love this. Mostly because I love seeing what other people’s shelves look like, how they organize, and what they have on them. 😀
Well, that’s the news for this week! For those of you that have an extra day off this weekend, enjoy!
Ooh. I’m also considering preordering Bloodlust and Bonnets as I find the author/illustrator hilarious!
One of my friends got an advanced copy and I was like omg what is this I need it. Apparently it’s really good, very much looking forward to it. 😀
Awe thanks for the shout out! And what a week! Preorders and zebras…… couldn’t be better! 😂 🦓
Just did a search for Cotactin Wildlife Preserve and looks like it’s about an hour and a half away from us! Thanks for the idea, it sounds like a great place to bring my kids 😀
It’s EXCELLENT for kids. So much interactive stuff with the animals. Think about packing some snacks though, there wasn’t a ton of food on hand when we went. The cafe wasn’t open. There are several picnic areas within the park though.
Sounds like a fun weekend! Mine was split between my sister and her husband visiting from out of town, and getting some organizing done in my room. Also got about 40% into Jade War. So good, so long!
That also sounds like a good weekend! I love organizing. 🙂 I really need to read that series at some point! Glad you’re enjoying the new book.
What a lovely post – looks like you had a fabulous time first with the animals and then with the family – there’s a joke in there somewhere but I’m not going to go there.
Happy thoughts to you for this week, I hope it’s going well and glad that the dreaded ‘curse’ seems to have finally gone.
Lynn 😀
Thanks! It was a great weekend, best I’ve had in a while. It was a great way to spend the ‘last weekend of Summer’. 🙂
I’m hoping it’s lifted too! Although my husband’s car is back in the shop this week (think he might have a hole or crack in the exhaust) and mine has to go in for suspension work soon but, well, life. 🙂
Congrats on getting rid of the curse 😀 It looks like you had an awesome weekend! (I also spent a good chunk of my weekend swimming!)
Thank you! It was a great weekend for swimming. At first it was all cloudy on Sunday but then the sun came out for the rest of the day and it was very pleasant. Really, a perfect weekend. 🙂
