Well, I got off track a couple of times and at one point lost my reading mojo, but I still had a pretty productive October, especially considering how busy I was.
I read 14 books in October, 12 of them science fiction/fantasy novels and 2 historical romances. One of the books was a novella, the last Murderbot book. (Murderbot!!) One book was a reread but sometimes you just have to chuck your reading schedule out of the window and read a comfort book. 🙂
I made progress with Dresden Files, finishing two more in the series so I only have 4 more to go to be caught up with the series, woot! I also made progress with my outstanding series goal, finishing up The Glamourist Histories. (We won’t talk about all the new series I started…shhhhhhh.)
Favorite Reads of the Month:
- The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee. This book was just so much fun. I had high expectations and it didn’t let me down. I loved that it showed women from many perspectives.
- Rabbit & Robot by Andrew Smith. This was such a weird book but I loved it. (The more weird books I read the more I realize how much I love weirdness…) What a strange, crazy trip to space, full of AI bots and the end of the world.
- Blood of Heirs by Alicia Wanstall-Burke. I loved this one! I had no idea what to expect going into it and was very pleasantly surprised. Very much looking forward to more of this series.

Plans for November:
Well, as I’ve mentioned a few times, I am planning on doing NaNoWriMo. I have a post going up about that on Friday. I have a lot of my blog posts for the month of November pre-scheduled but I’ll still be live posting my Monday Weekly Reading and Friday NaNo update posts.
Although I’ll be spending a lot of my time writing, I still plan to get some reading done, but will slow it down to maybe one or two books a week through audio, and maybe two or three print books altogether (I still have a couple review requests out there for next month).
Things are going to be really tough for November! I also have World Fantasy Convention the first four days of November (so exciting) and my next Tea Party Book Club meeting the second weekend. Eek! So we’ll see how things go. 🙂

This looks like a wonderful month of reading to me! I think October was good for me, too, but it was a bit too packed with ARCs (I took on too many, and for whatever reason, it was a big publishing month!). I’ve told you already, but good luck again with your writing challenge and also have so much fun at the conference!

Thanks! Well, I squeezed in three the last three days so it was looking pretty light up til the end. At least light for me anyway lol. I’m hoping the party goes well. Due to the timing I’m going to be prepping for it very last minute!
I remember trying to do NaNo one year and keep my blog going, and it didn’t work out very well. But you sound pretty organized, good luck!

Looks like an amazing month of reading! And ooh, I’ve never heard of the World Fantasy Fair, what’s that involve? It sounds like a ton of fun!
It’s one of the major fantasy conventions for the Fantasy book industry. It’s more of a professional con but fans can come too. So there are lots of authors there doing readings and panels and some workshops and such. Also a huge mass book signing on Friday night and they also give out the World Fantasy award on Sunday. It’s held in different places every year.

Good luck with NaNo!! I wish for a day when I have enough posts scheduled to fill up a whole month. 😂 And what kind of books do you guys read for the tea party book club?
I binge read a ton of books and had to make time to write a bunch of reviews and find tags to do and other stuff to write…it took a little while lol! Not sure if I’ll ever be this ahead again. 🙂
We read all sorts of books. So far we’ve done Call of the Wild, Heart-Shaped Box, Red Rising, A Wrinkle in Time, and The Blessing Way. This time we’re reading Weaveworld by Clive Barker which we didn’t realize was 700 pages long until we all agreed to it! lol
