This Week in Reading: Reading Marathon Wrap-Up!

Hello hello! This past weekend was a huge marathon of reading for me. Of my list I finished two novels, made progress on two others and started a brand new one. I also read three volumes of manga. Overall, I’m happy with the progress I made even though I didn’t finish everything up that I wanted to. I did get a bit distracted here and there. Whoops~!

So, I started Legendborn by Tracy Deonn. Really enjoying this one so far but I did hit a bit of a wall of exposition that is slowing things down a little for me. I’m…not one for details? But I’m loving the characters and the concept is really cool.

In audio I’m almost finished up The Age of Witches by Louisa Morgan (finally!). I did get some listening over the weekend but not quite enough to be able to wrap this one up. I’m nearing the end though and I’m interested to see where the rest of this story goes after some very dramatic happenings! I should be able to wrap this one up by end of day Tuesday.

I’m also still reading The Jasmine Throne by Tashsa Suri. I’m sad to say I didn’t make much progress on this one. I think I just wasn’t feeling it at the moment and my mood is a fickle thing. Once again I’m hoping to wrap this one up this week. I’m going to make every effort.

Once I finish up the witch book I’m going to start listening to The Name of All Things by Jenn Lyons. I’m very excited to get to this one because I’m hoping it’s going to be, like the first book, a fun ride. I love books that take me on a crazy journey. 🙂 This one will probably take me at least the rest of the month to read–maybe longer–because it’s fairly long.

That about sums things up. What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

I was so hyped for huge fantasy tomes, and I was having such a grand old time, and then I cracked open a 700+ page one, and it’s just–wow, slowed me down SO MUCH. I started it five days ago, and I’m only 200 pages in, and it feels like I’ve barely started it, which is honestly a bit defeating. I’m loving it, though, so DNF’ing it isn’t even on my radar, and I do want to keep reading it, but I’m also scheduled to write a King of Scars & Rule of Wolves review for next week, which I really wanted to keep to, especially because it’s been over a MONTH, and I still haven’t read ROW yet??? I am deceased. So I’m hoping to power through this current tome in the next couple of days, reread KOS so I can finally get to ROW, and hopefully just, like, take it easy this upcoming weekend? Still hyped about fantasy tomes, but wow, could use a contemporary right now.

I hope you were able to get through your tome, Mary! I read TWO tomes this week (Crush and Covet) but those books are like catnip to me so I fairly breezed through them lol.

Legendborn is very high on TBR pile, I don’t read many YA books but this one sounds amazing and I’ll be looking forward to your thoughts! 😀
I’m still re-reading Kushiel’s Chosen, a book that I started at the end of February…? It’s not that I’m not enjoying it but I’m struggling to focus on reading at the moment. I really hope I will be able to finish it soon since my slump appears to be fading slowly but hopefully surely! 😛

I had a fun time with it in the end, despite getting bogged down briefly near the beginning.
I know what you mean about focusing. I’m finding it easier to read romance and YA right now–adult fantasy has been slow going to me. Hoping your slump ended!

I’ve heard mixed things about Legendborn glad to see you are enjoying it for the most part. I’m currently in the middle of 3 books and will be starting on another one probably tonight.

I hope to get to Legendborn too this month. Currently reading and enjoying Paladin of Souls by Lois McMaster Bujold and Lords and Ladies by Terry Pratchett.

congrats on getting so much reading done, that’s a great accomplishent! i loved legendborn, but i agree: there’s SO much exposition and info-dumping especially in the first 100 pages, it’s almost too much! i hope you have a lovely week💜

I really loved it! It was just what I needed to get me through the rest of the week. There was a part that had a bunch of exposition that bogged me down for a minute but after that it was smooth sailing. 🙂
