The Sunday Post #51

thesundaypost

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Random News And Goings-On

Not too much to report. I’ve been spending most of my time lately reading and still neglecting my chores, weee! We had some weather at the beginning of last week which ended up giving me half a snow day from work so I took advantage of that to work on some blog stuff as well as to get in some more reading time. Of course my laundry still needs to be folded but oh well, baby steps. 😉 We are having some weather again today but hopefully not too bad. Then it’s supposed to get COLD and honestly I am exhausted by winter and can’t wait for spring. We did have a single really lovely day of weather last week where it felt like spring was on the way and it lifted my spirits right before the wind came rushing in later that night sweeping away the warm air. Boooooooooooo. Anyway, powering through the gloom times with books. Lots and lots of books.

New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy

Physical Books

A few more physical books arrived! I’ve been on my spree still, what can I say? First up is Lore by Alexandra Bracken–this is one I only recently started getting hyped for so I was SUPER excited when it was included in January’s Owlcrate. Next up, two books I had preordered–We Could Be Heroes by Mike Chen (really loved his previous book so I felt compelled to check this one out) and A Vow So Bold and Deadly by Brigid Kemmerer (eeee, can’t wait to read more of this series). Then we have a book I tracked down from the interwebs used, The Well-Favored Man by Elizabeth Willey. I have books 2 and 3 of this series and I’m keeping those but had to pick up the first one if they were to be of any use to me. So here we are. I also received Wings of Fury by Emily R. King for review. Greek mythology? Sign me up! Thanks much to the folks at Wunderkind PR for sending this one my way.

Ebooks

I’ve been rather frugal this time around picking up new ebooks.

  • FIYAH Magazine – Issue 17 – I don’t read a *ton* of short fiction but I’ll admit that the cover for this one drew me in!
  • Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas – this is a library loan that came in, weee!

Well except that I also broke down and requested a couple of eARCs. WHOOPS.

  • The Unbroken by C.L. Clark – I’ve heard amazing things about this by fellow bloggers and I was already excited for it so at this point my hype knows no bounds. I’m planning on reading this near the end of the month as a buddy read with a friend.
  • The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri – Another 2021 release that I’m super hyped for. When this was posted on netgalley I fairly smashed that request button. 🙂 Looking forward to this one!

Well, that about wraps things up for this week, see you next time!

      Thanks, they really do. 🙂
I’m excited for Lore too! Now I just need to find time to squeeze it in. I’m excited for Wings of Fury as well–anything based on Greek Mythology really haha. 🙂
Thank you! Hope you have a wonderful week of reading ahead!

I hope the weather starts to warm up soon, send your snow to California if you want, lol. Lore looks fantastic, I hope you love it. Have a great week, Lisa!

I got my first Mike Chen book for Christmas, Here and Now and Then. Looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about for this author! I’m jumping back into the land of the tomes with WE LIE WITH DEATH this week.

I haven’t read Here and Now and Then yet, but I really want to read that one too! One book of his work and I’ve become a fan. 🙂
Enjoy We Lie With Death! I keep meaning to read that series.

Yikes, that’s too cold for me! I think we’re supposed to get down to 20 tonight which will be the coldest it’s been all winter so far. I feel that wish and wish it as well! It sucks going out in winter. Brrr.

    • waytoofantasy says:

Yes, that’s part of my problem as well! Winter means lots of cozy time. But also I do need to make sure my husband can find his laundry. But I guess that’s not happening today now LOL.

We’re in the middle of three different storms right now with a promise of a fourth this weekend, and I have to admit I’m enjoying it. Last week’s was AWFUL; it was wet & heavy & gross. This week, however, it’s been very fluffy & light, so it’s clinging to all the trees and making our forest look like a winter wonderland. It’s hard not to want to put on my boots and wander through the trees for a while, especially working from home this week.

Lore has been staring at me for a couple weeks now, and I really need to crack into it!

Yeah, this weather has been ridiculous! I know it’s been worse up your way then here in the mid-Atlantic, but I’m sick of it. I want winter over and done. I do love it when it looks pretty but I still have to clean my car off and come to work so it makes me enjoy it less haha. 🙂
Hope you enjoy Lore! I think it’s going to take me a little bit to get to that one. I’m reading as fast as I can but my books in my TBR keep piling up LOL. Hope you’re having a wonderful week, Mary!

  4. Zezee says:

Yo, me too! Ready for spring and ready for winter and its snows to stop. I’ve had Fiyah on my radar for some time now, but haven’t read anything from there yet.

    • waytoofantasy says:

I’m excited to check out Fiyah, seems like some great fiction is getting published through it.
Winter be gone! I’m just so done. (Although to be fair I’m done with it as soon as it starts each year lol)
