End of Year Book Tag

Not sure who created this tag originally but I saw it over at Evelyn Reads and thought it would be a fun one to fill out and see where I stand. ๐Ÿ™‚

The questions:

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

Yes, actually! I started Death of the Necromancer by Martha Wells a whiiiiiiile back and just haven’t finished it yet. I was enjoying it but at the time I wasn’t in the mood, hopefully will be able to finish it off before 2021! I also have a self-help book I am in the middle of (and have been for several months) that I’d like to get off of my ‘currently reading’ list.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

I don’t usually do seasonal reading? But last year I did read An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson in the fall and that makes for a really great fall read! If anyone is looking for seasonal reading suggestions. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Is there a new release youโ€™re still waiting for?

On Fragile Waves by E. Lily Yu looks like it’s going to be a great read and I’m also SUPER excited for A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir–I preordered it in audio since I’ve read all the books that way and I’m hoping I’ll be able to get to it because I have a lot less audiobook time now with such a short commute with the new job…. but I’ll make it work somehow. ๐Ÿ™‚

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?

Well, I already made a whole post about this but if I were to pick three that I am super serious about reading before 2021 hits:

  • The House in the Cerulean Seaย by T. J. Klune
  • A Song of Blood & Stoneย by L. Penelope
  • The Order of the Pure Moon Reflected in Waterย by Zen Cho

Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favourite book of the year?

I don’t know about being surprised by it? Because I wouldn’t be shocked at all if the new Klune book ends up tops for me. But also I don’t know what all I’m reading this month so it could happen! And it could be anything! Won’t it be fun to find out? ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you started making reading plans for 2021?

Well yes, but I think my reading plans for next year are basically going to be some variation of ‘read whatever you feel like because it’s what makes you happy’ with maybe a side of ‘finish some series, Lisa because seriously’ and ‘maybe read some of the books you own’. LOL

As per usual, not tagging anyone but if this looks like fun go ahead and consider yourself tagged.

I would love to read The House in the Cerulean Sea as well, but I’ve already planned my December reads and I doubt I’ll have time๐Ÿ˜ฌ Good luck!

Yes, finishing series is something I need to work on. I think I have a strange affliction that makes me veer away from final books – they’re just so, well, so final! And sometimes I don’t want things to end. I’m also going to make a list of all the unread books I’ve bought for the kindle – that could be a very embarrassing list, I still haven’t decided whether or not I’ll post it. I suspect I will have enough books to keep me reading for years without ever adding anything new.

Yeah, I know what you mean, sometimes I don’t want things to end either. There have been final books I’ve read this year that I’ve LOVED but then I was also sad the series was over.
Oh, I have about 240 unread books on kindle, at least my read books is slightly higher on there (250ish) so I don’t feel too bad haha. But new books are so much fun!!!

LOL SAME with the 2021 reading goals. I just wrote out all of my goals for various things for next year, and my reading goals are slim because they’re honestly just “have fun, but also could you please finish some of the things you ignored last year jfc”, so I’m feeling the “you’re gonna suffer, but you’re going to be happy about it” vibes, hahaha.

Yeah I don’t know I’ve just reached a point where I feel like I’m over all this extra work that I make for myself when it comes to reading LOL. I mean, do I still have some vague goals in mind (read your TBR!!! finish series!!!’)? Yes, of course. But I’m keeping it casual.
