This Week in Reading: I Can’t Fight This Feeling Anymore

So, I actually had a pretty good week in reading last week? It wasn’t just because I was off work (I did a lot of housework and binge watched an entire limited series on Netflix…or two…). I finished SIX books! One Contemporary YA, two contemporary Romance, one Historical Romance, and two SFF books. The only problem? NONE OF THESE WERE BOOKS I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE READING.

*INTERNAL SCREAMING*

Anywho. I’ve decided I’m just not going to fight it and and I’m going to give in and just concentrate on mood reading from now until the end of the year. It’s what I’m doing anyway so why feel obligated when I really have no more obligations other than the arbitrary ones I set on myself with my TBR’s and Reading Challenges? I have a single book for review set up for December and it’s an audiobook so that shouldn’t be any issue. Other than that? Reading whatever I feel like! IT’S GOING TO BE SO FREEING.

So, I don’t know exactly how my audiobook schedule will be from now on with my new job. I’m going to have a MUCH shorter commute and I probably won’t get listening time in at work like I used to at my old job. We’ll see what happens! Regardless, I only have about 5 hours left on Bonds of Brass by Emily Skurtskie so I should be able to finish that up this week. Really enjoying this one so far, it’s a fun romp! Pew pew!

My last library hold came in so I’ll probably be picking up The Silvered Serpents by Roshani Chokshi. Now, I didn’t wholly love the first book but I do love other things I’ve read by Chokshi and I’ve been curious about the sequel and where the story goes so I’m eager to check this one out! Sometimes I wind up loving a sequel much more than the first book so I’m always hopeful!

I’m hoping I have time to at least start another book during the week or maybe get to the pile of manga I have out from the library. We’ll see. Even though I’ll have more time at home (yay working closer to home and getting off work earlier!) I do still have a lot of other things to catch up on despite just having an entire week off. Go figure. What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

Woop woop welcome to the mood reading club, there’s biscuits and hot drinks on the table πŸ˜€ I’ve actually just finished a manga and currently in between books. Got a couple to pick from next, I’m thinking either Synners by Pat Cadigan or Glitch Rain by Alex Livingston to continue my cyberpunk theme for SciFi Month .

      Oooh, biscuits! πŸ˜€
I have a few manga that I need to read as well as all of Card Captor Sakura Clear Card that’s out (I keep collecting them and not reading them haha).
Good luck with your own reading! All of those sound like interesting choices to go with.

I wish I could read as much as you in a week. My normal is usually 3 books in a week although my reading has slowed down recently. I currently have 4 books on my currently reading shelf on Goodreads but I’ve only actively been reading Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco and Anne’s House of Dreams by L.M. Montgomery.

Well it’s super rare for me to read so much in a week! It’s been a long time since I’ve done that…
I’ve been wanting to check out something by Kerri Maniscalco, I’ve heard good things about some of her work.
      Enjoy your reading, Misty!

IMHO there is no other kind of reading – mood reading rules! πŸ™‚
Jokes aside, while it’s good to have some sort of schedule to follow, it’s not to have to force oneself to read any given book just because we lined it up as the next one. It would feel too much like work instead of fun…

    • waytoofantasy says:

Yes exactly. For some reason I put so much silly pressure on myself to read certain books at certain times and except for ARCs I don’t really have any obligations other than what I make up in my own head. I don’t know why I do that to myself haha.

This week I’m re-reading Stephen Baxter’s ‘Flood.’ Such a haunting novel. I’m probably going to squeeze in some Wheel of Time too. I’ve also got Pierce Brown’s ‘Red Rising’ on the go! Six books complete is darned impressive. I love me some Historical Fiction. Paranormal Romance is my guilty pleasure, but a Regency-romance or Victorian detective? Yes please.

    • waytoofantasy says:

I’ve never read Flood but it seems fascinating. I hope you enjoy your reading. I LOVE the Red Rising series so much. Comparatively, the first book is a bit rough, but overall it’s one of my favorite series. πŸ™‚
