This Week in Reading: Another ‘Bad’ Week

Hello all and happy Monday! My boss is away on vacation this week so I’m in a very good mood even though my reading wasn’t quite where I wanted it to be last week. I….don’t think I finished any books last week? Whoops!

The plan was to get reading done this weekend but then I got caught up in watching The Untamed and pretty much spend the ENTIRE weekend watching it. To be fair, that show is amazing. I mean, it starts off super confusing and then not a lot happens for a while and just sort of slowly builds until you’re like ‘HOLY SHIT’. Anyway it’s amazing and I have zero regrets even if it meant my reading took a hit.

Meanwhile, I’m feeling SUPER stressed about a lot of things I have coming up–today I’m taking my car in for regular maintenance but I’m always scared that they’ll find something wrong that I’ll need to get fixed. Then we’re getting closer to having our bathroom and kitchen reno so there’s a ton of planning as well as we’ll have to figure out what to do with our cats for a month as Loki especially is an extremely nervous cat and doesn’t do well with a) other people in the house and b) loud noises. So. Stressssssssss. And that’s kind of made its way into other areas of my life as my anxiety trickles down into everything. Ah well.

I actually made pretty good progress on Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey but It’s not a short audio so it’s run into this week as well. If I had worked on my embroidery this weekend instead of binge watching a drama I may have actually finished this…alas. Really enjoying it. Honestly, it did take a little bit for me to get fully invested but once things kick into high gear you’re like ‘whaaaaaat is happening????? omg omg omg’ and it’s a whole thing I wasn’t expecting. 🙂

I’m only about 16% into The Death of the Necromancer by Martha Wells. I think it’s just that I’m not in the mood for this right now? It’s good and honestly the style and subgenre is totally my thing–plus it’s Martha Wells. But I just…ugh….mood reading. But I’m going to try again this week and hopefully will really connect and fly through the rest of it.

Not sure what my next read will be after that buuuuuut, I did buy about 4 or 5 romance novels the other day so I have a feeling I’ll be digging into some romance this week if it’s what my mood demands. What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

I am sorry for the stress!! I hope that things would get better soon, and that you can relax a bit.
But I am so glad to read that you enjoyed Untamed, I hope to get to it, sooner or later and I am really curious. So far the novel is really entertaining!!
And I am curious about Well’s book, it seems interesting and I’ll wait to know your full opinion on it!
Today is just Monday but I have finished Shards of Honor because I devoured that book 😍😍😍 it was just so so good!!

Thanks! It will be a little while because our renovation doesn’t even start for a month at least–but that means we have time to plan.
I’m super into the show! I understand it differs from the show a good bit. I want to read the book now, though!
I’m starting to get into the Wells book, it’s good I guess I just haven’t been in the mood for it haha.
Glad you loved Shards of Honor so much! Hope you have a great week!

I’ve been super distracted lately (by what I have no idea!) which is not good for reading. I did just start a fun sci fi romance which feel like it’s going to be very escapist, so I’m hoping I can get through it quickly. Hope your week goes well, and good luck with your reno and the cats!

    • waytoofantasy says:

Yeah, I think that’s part of what is making me not in the mood to read, my anxiety makes me distracted and unable to focus on reading sometimes.
I’ve always found romance to be my absolute most escapist thing so I hope that scifi romance works for you! Thanks, Tammy! Hope you have an amazing week. 🙂

Yeah, I’m all over the place at the moment and now have so much catching up to do that by the time I’ve caught up – I’ll be weeks behind again (you know what I mean :D)
    Lynn 😀

LOL, yes I know exactly what you mean. I feel like at this point I’m so perpetually behind so I just give up every once in a while and hit a restart button lol. Good luck, Lynn!

I hope it all goes well with the reno. At least it sounds like it’ll be a good week workwise since the boss it out.
I didn’t get much reading done either, just wasn’t feeling for reading books.

    • waytoofantasy says:

Yeah, work should be good this week! 😀
Thanks, I’m looking forward to the reno being started and then done haha. I think it’s going to be great when it’s completed.
Yeah, sometimes you just need a bit of a break from books. 🙂

So glad that you’re enjoying Leviathan Wakes and have reached the… point of no return 😀 where you get inescapably ensnared by what is happening! As for getting caught in that serial drama, one of my friends has been raving about it for the past few weeks and although a quick YouTube peek did not encourage me to follow her example, she showed me how engrossing it can become 😉

    • waytoofantasy says:

I’ll admit that the show probably isn’t for everyone haha, but I really did get sucked into it. I….may be a bit obsessed now lol. 🙂

I’m really loving Leviathan Wakes! Hopefully will be done by the end of this week–I have about 7 hours left on the audio. 🙂

I’m currently reading Leviathan Wakes and I’m absolutely loving it!! 😀

I hope everything goes smoothly and you feel a little less stressed soon! Keep up the embroidery, I’m sure it helps!! 😀

That’s what happened to me haha. I have 8 episodes to go, might not get to them til this weekend though. And then I might read the book and/or watch the anime and/or watch the special cut of the series all over again on youtube idk, I may be obsessed now haha. 🙂
