Well, I managed to finish two books this past week – a historical romance novel which took me forever to read for some reason, and a military sci-fi novel. I still didn’t finish Obsidian Tower and I just don’t feel like picking it up right now so I think I’m going to officially take a mini-break from it and read some other fantasy before diving back in. I’m also still finishing up Sarah Pinsker’s short story collection. I think I’m reading something like five books at the same time right now because I keep starting things and not finishing them. Ahahahahahahaha. Mood reading when you’re just not in the mood, apparently. Fun times.
In audio I am still in the midst of listening to The Empire of Gold by S. A. Chakraborty. I started mid-week but didn’t feel much like listening while at work and tried to make some progress over the long weekend, but it’s such a long book I have a feeling I’ll be reading this one the rest of this week. It’s off to a good start though–great to be back in this world with these characters! Although I probably could have used a summary of what happened in the last book before diving in but it’s coming back to me LOL.
In print, I’ll be reading Written in Red by Anne Bishop as part of a buddy read with Lynn from Lynn’s Books. Hoping this one will hit just the right spot to get me out of the reading funk I’ve been in. Huzzah!
I might go back to Obsidian Tower at some point this week and/or try to finish up the short story collection. I will try not to start a sixth new book but I can’t make any promises. I’m a mess of a reader right now. 😀 What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
I’m currently reading Full Tilt by Emma Scott and I’m probably going to be starting Anne of Avonlea, Rush and Wizard and Glass sometime soon, probably today honestly because I have a lot of books I need/want to get too.
I’m always impressed with how much reading you get in! Hope you’re enjoying the Anne books–I’ve always wanted to read those. 🙂
Thank you!! I loved the first book and I’m currently only 10 chapters into the second book but I’m enjoying it as well thank you!! You definitely should give it a try.
I think I might even have copies somewhere, just have to remember to squeeze them in at some point LOL. 😀
I don’t have physical copies yet but I definitely want to get them. I hope you enjoy it when you do get around to reading it.
Thanks, Misty!
haha I relate to that “mood reading when you’re not in the mood” means not being able to finish anything! but it always passes! I hope you’re over the hump quickly!
Yes exactly. It’s so frustrating! Thanks, I hope so too. 🙂
That’s exactly why I only read one book at a time, I just never finish anything. I’ve tried reading multiple books and it just confuses me. But I know it normally works for you, right?
Yeah, I normally have at least one print and one audio. As long as they’re different enough in tone or the sub-genre I don’t mix them up at all. But this amount has gotten a bit ridiculous even for me LOL.
Lol! Totally understand mood reading when you’re not in the mood.
Currently reading Boy, Snow, Bird and am liking it, but I wish I could read faster so I can finish a books I started earlier in the year.
I know what you mean! I’m in the middle of all these books right now and I just want to finish a couple of them off. Must. Read. Faster. LOL
Haha i do the same thing, I start so many books for different reasons and it takes me forever to finish😂😅 I hope you end up enjoying all the books you’re reading💜
Thanks, Kaya! It’s weird because I usually don’t read like that but I guess it’s just my mood lol. 😀
I feel you! I have 4 books on the docket right now and I’m just…cycling between them lol. And I still haven’t finished City of Brass (WHY, I’m not sure), so I might do a binge of all three at some point. At least the plot will still be fresh in my mind when I get to the sequels? 😛
I’ll be honest, I was pretty ‘meh’ through MOST of City of Brass until near the end (listened to it in audio so maybe like the last hour and a half or so?) when stuff ramped up and got REAL. I was going to rate it 3 stars but then the end! So 5 stars. Also, the author does this clever thing where she makes me hate a character and then love them and then hate them and then love them and I’m really addicted to her writing now. Hope you can get to them at some point–I’d love to see your thoughts. 🙂
EXCUSE ME, 180° flip-flopping of character opinions is MY JAM. I also just read a bunch of reviews of The Empire of Gold saying that the series changed their life (more or less)….So alright. Okay. I’ll try to dive into book 1 this weekend. *rolls up sleeves*
Just keep in mind that I thought book one was ‘alright’ until about the last two hours (I listened to it on audio) and was then like ‘holy shit—5 stars! So if you get bogged down in the start just know it gets better. And book 2 is like ‘holy shit!’ the entire time hahaha. 😀
Thanks for sharing this book. I am going to start reading this soon.
Hope you enjoy!
Thank you
You’re welcome. 🙂
Five books together are a lot!!
Well, I am a fan of Written in Red, so obviously I am just so happy you are reading it! 😍
This week I have started an Italian mystery but I am quite thorn about it. I loved the previous book by the author, but this one doesn’t seem like the right one for me. I would go on with the reading a bit and see if I change my mind or if I would drop it…
Five is a lot hahah. I’m almost finished Written in Red and I’m really loving it–such a great book!
Oh, I hope it picks up for you! ❤
Still loving Written in red but need to fit some more reading in. I seem to have filled up my time with household things this week!
Lynn 😀
That happens sometimes. My husband has been home still so luckily he has been doing a lot of house stuff for me and I’ve had a lot of free time in the evenings. Phew!
