Last week I finished up two books, both SFF, The Force of Wind by Elizabeth Hunter, and Race the Sands by Sarah Beth Durst. I enjoyed both a lot and will hopefully have some reviews coming up soon!Β Other than that all my reading time was spent on webtoons. I read a shorter one or two, but I also spent hours upon hours binge reading all available episodes of two really popular romance webtoons–Age Matters and True Beauty. I can see why they’re so popular, they’re both really addictive. Obviously. Anywah, that was a lot of reading but I’m not sure how to categorize it…it they were collected into books I’m sure it would be several volumes each. So…yeah. Lots of webtoons.
This week I’ll be finishing up the last book in Elizabeth Hunter’s Elemental Mysteries series, A Fall of Water. Very much looking forward to seeing how the series ends! I had guessed some of the direction things were headed, can’t wait to see if I’m right about some other things. Also, yay vampires!
Next up, in audio I started The Betrothed by Kiera Cass. I don’t know why I decided to get this out from my library and read it but…look. The Selection is not well written at all but I can’t deny how fun it is. Even though I’ve heard a lot of mixed things about this one, I wanted to check it out anyway because I’m in the mood for light popcorn reads. Only just barely into it, and so far it’s good for a laugh, but I’m hoping to finish this up pretty quickly because I have other book commitments to make. π
Speaking of, we’re reading Crosstalk by Connie Willis for our HEA book club on reddit’s r/fantasy community this month. This is going to be my first Connie Willis book–I’m excited to check it out! Hope to be starting this one by the end of the week.
I’ll probably have time for more print books as long as I don’t get sucked into webtoons again but I guess we’ll see what happens. I’m hoping I can get to one of my books on my 20 Books of Summer list but… well, being a mood reader is tough right now! π
I’m really sorry that I got behind on blog hopping yet again, hoping to catch up by early this week–I had a much more busy weekend than I’d anticipated. What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
I am looking forward to your reviews! Especially the one about Race the Sands, if you would write it!
And this week I am reading The Sword of Kaigen (and I think this book would keep me company all month long!) and Midnight Blue-Light Special by Seanan McGuire. This one was a mood choice (even if I had this book on my June TBR so I am not feeling guilty about it!)
Thanks! I should have one up in a few weeks.
Sword of Kaigen looks really good, I keep hearing great things about it! Can’t get mad about mood reading, especially these days. π Have a great week!
I took a peek at Age Matters and I can see how easy it would be to get hooked! I may go back and read moreπ
It was so good. I can’t wait to see what happens when it comes back from hiatus haha.
Enjoy your reading! I kinda really want to try The betrothed as well!

It’s….uh…the main character is even more vapid than the Selection. Once more I can’t tell if Kiera Cass is a genius or….not. LOL. π
Hahah! I think I will just listen to it with low expectations haha!
π
Love! Love! Elizabeth Hunter’s books! I have read that series like 3 times. Enjoy! I’m interested to see what you think of the series.
These are the first I’m reading and I’m enjoying them a lot! Hopefully will have a review up later this month. π
Race the Sands was a lot of fun! Looking forward to your thoughts on Crosstalk, it’s been on my TBR for ages but I haven’t picked up a copy. My reading’s off to a slow start this week due to life getting in the way, but I should be cracking open We Ride the Storm today!
I really enjoyed Race the Sands, even though I wish it had been…more somehow? Hah. I am really looking forward to Crosstalk, I’ll be starting that one tomorrow. π Hope your reading picks up!
I would definitely like to read Race the Sands at some point – although exactly when I have no idea.
Still plodding a bit with my reading and blog hopping and then find I have lots of catching up to do. Strange times.
Lynn π
It is strange times, I hope you’re doing okay, Lynn! Honestly, plodding is fine right now. I tend to hyperfocus my energy when anxious so that’s the only reason my blogging hasn’t fallen behind… I hope you get to check out Race the Sands, I think you’ll like it. π
