The Sunday Post #25

thesundaypost

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Random News And Goings-On

This past week felt reeeealllly long. I managed to get some reading in too, which is great. Moving right along with my February TBR pile. Friday I wound up staying home from work because I wasn’t feeling well, so I laid around reading when I could and also managed to grab my laptop and get caught up with some blogging stuff once I was feeling a little bit better.

Saturday did some errands and then went out with my husband for a nice dinner to celebrate Valentine’s day. He also got me some fabulous gifts including registering us both for WorldCon 2021! So, I guess it’s official that I’m going to WorldCon in DC in 2021…if anyone else is planning on being there let me know, maybe we can meet up at some point. 🙂

Today we’re supposed to go out and look at getting my husband some nice chairs for the basement to go around his gaming table so we can bring the two dining room chairs back upstairs and have more comfortable seating other than the folding chairs that are down there now. We’ll see how shopping goes. I might also get my hair cut. We’ll see.

Those of you who follow me on twitter (my personal account, not the blog) may have noticed my recent hair journey–I’m starting the curly girl method and letting my natural curls come out. I never knew my hair was as curly as it is! It’s…kind of crazy actually. I mean, I new there were waves but there are some ringlets and stuff and how have I made it to age 42 not knowing this??? I always just thought my hair was mostly straight but it turns out I’ve just been doing my hair wrong all these years.

As for the state of the blog–I’m still caught up with most things other than blog hopping. I’m staying on top of my reviews and other miscellaneous posts and even thinking about some posts and events that are a couple of months down the road. I’m feeling optimistic but I know as much as anyone all it takes is a bad week or so to have it all come crashing down so…just going to cross my fingers for now and hope for this to continue.

New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy

Physical Books

Only one this time around (I’ve been trying to be good!), an ARC of Scarlet Odyssey by C. T. Rwizi. Thanks much for 47North sending this one my way, looks intriguing! This doesn’t come out until July, phew, so I have some time to get to it. (My reading schedule is becoming booked again–pun intended!)

Ebooks

Okay, I admit I did break my book buying ban just a little bit here. WHOOPS.

I had pre-ordered a copy of Popcorn and Poltergeists, the next in Nancy Warren’s Vampire Knitting Club books. This doesn’t count against my ban because it’s a sequel and also I had pre-ordered it before the start of the year anyway.

I did totally break my ban by picking up Paladin’s Grace, the new book by T. Kingfisher. Whoops! (I think this might take place in the same universe as Swordheart? If so, does it really count against my ban? Maybe not. Look, I will justify this purchase any way I can ahahahahaha.)

I also picked up a romance, Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert because one of my friends recommended it to me and I trust their romance recs a hundred thousand percent.

So, that’s about it. It was a pretty low-key feeling week I guess, despite some activities and goings-on. See you next time around!

I honestly think your hair changes as you get older. I just got a haircut recently and asked for bangs, but it turned out to be a huge mistake because the bangs were suddenly curly! UGH I do not like curls or waves in my hair. Lol. Good luck with your hair!😁

So glad you mentioned WorldCon 2021 because I want to register before May, when I think the price goes up, but I keep forgetting. It would help if I wrote things down but then I forget to do that too, lol.

The curly hair thing is funny because I had that exact discovery recently lol. I knew my hair was wavy but with just a touch of curling gel when it’s wet, glorious ringlets appear! Who would have thunk? 😛

Thanks, we did buy chairs but they’re on order so we have to wait for them to come in. 🙂 It was a great weekend! I would have loved a little more reading time but shopping and hanging out with my husband is good too. 😉 Hope you have a great week, too!

The curly girl method? What is this I must know! I don’t think I have curly hair regardless. It’s pretty long and just hangs straight even if I curl it, but it would be nice if I could coax some volume out of it.
