This Week in Reading: Moving Right Along

Well, I had another fantastic reading week last week and finished a total of five books–three historical romances and two SFF books. I’m making some headway on my February TBR pile but I’ve also received a couple of new books for review so I’m feeling all panicky about managing my time to get all of these read. Stresssssssss.  I didn’t do much reading this weekend, but I’m ready to get started again this week and check some more books off of my list.

For some reason I’m still reading A Heart So Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer. I made very little progress last week because I was in the mood for some other books instead, it seems. I really hope to get back to this book this week and finish it up. So far I’m enjoying it, even though we’re spending time with different characters from the first book.

Next up, I finally started my reread of Dune by Frank Herbert in audio! I haven’t read this book in about twenty years so I’m surprised how much I remember and how easily things are coming back to me as I listen. Also, the audio experience is quite interesting on this one as it’s a cast recording and there are some neat background sounds and such.

I started Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead last week in ebook thinking I could sneak some reading in now and then at work. This one is proving harder to get through than I thought it would be! I really don’t like the POV character that much, she’s on my nerves, so reading this is not a pleasant experience. But I have to get through it for bingo, no time for another book as I have limited time at this point. I’m hoping things improve.

If I get through these I might keep reading from my TBR pile or I might work on one of the ARCs I have received. We’ll see how things go. I might also sneak another romance novel in there somewhere if I can. What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

Five books! Wow, I can only dream of that😁 I finished Silvia Noreno-Garcoa’s new book Untamed Shore and I’m still struggling to get through Mazes of Power. I know I should just plow through it but I also want to start something new…

I don’t know what happened, I was just on a roll apparently lol. Oooh, looking forward to your thoughts on those. I know what you mean though. When I am struggling with a book I keep thinking of other books I want to read and it makes things that much harder to focus on it. Good luck!

I don’t even know what I’m reading this week because my poor bookish heart isn’t in the mood for anything I’m supposed to be reading. 😂😂 good luck to us both!

DNF that sucker and move on with your life. Lol! If it’s not an ARC I’m not even trying to finish any more. I think I quit One the other day there was absolutely nothing wrong with, and I even think I’d enjoy if I pushed through. But I’d given it 200 pages and it just didn’t grab me. *shrugs* I just have too much to read I think.

The only reason I’m not is because I’m reading it for my r/fantasy bingo card and I’m so behind on finishing up so I don’t have time to find another book. I’m 50% in now so…LOL. I do need to get better at DNFing in general though. 🙂

Yea, it took a while for me to warm up to Rose in Vamp Academy too. She was really annoying in the beginning; can’t remember if I liked her by the end.

      • Zezee says:

Lol! That’s good. I liked her spirit and how much she cares for her friend. I thought their psychic link was a bit creepy since it was one way (if I remember correctly).

      • waytoofantasy says:

It was totally creepy! Also at the beginning I didn’t like their friendship at all, Rose was too bossy and controlling and being a creeper with the bond thing and acting like it was no big deal. But after a bunch of stuff was revealed later I got their friendship more.
