The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
Random News And Goings-On
The past week has been another tough one for reading! For some reason I just can’t seem to finish any books. Which is why I’m participating in the Off The Grid Readathon again this weekend, so I won’t really be around much online (you may have noticed) and hopefully, since I’m posting this from that past, future me has finished one or two books on Saturday. *crosses fingers* I have managed to catch up on a ton of blogging stuff this past week though! I have a bunch of posts pre-scheduled and I’m down to three old overdue reviews in my drafts folder (although I may be adding a bunch of new drafts this weekend if my reading goes according to plan).
In my personal life this week was a bit hectic. My husband’s D&D group started up again on Monday so we were up very late as a consequence since company didn’t leave the house until after 10pm. And then mid-week we wound up running our cat Loki to the vets late at night because we thought he might have a UTI (constantly in his litterbox, looking like he’s straining to pee, licking down there a lot) and apparently if he had been blocked then it would have been very bad so the vet urged us to come in right away when I called. So I wrangled him into the carrier. The vet office closed at 10pm but we were there until 11:20pm because they had a bunch of other higher priority emergencies and then they had to do tests on him. So, anyway, $600 later and he’s diagnosed with an inflamed bladder but no infection and also anxiety. So. Even my cat has anxiety. AHAHAHAHAHA. *crying* Well, he’s had some anti-inflammatory meds and those have seemed to help a lot, as well as some fancy ass expensive food that is supposed to help his urinary tract. Now we monitor and if he doesn’t go back to being in the box a lot then okay, if he does start up again then back to the vets for kitty prozac. Yay. /s
Aside from that stress one of my coworker’s went for a job interview (again) which left me a bit panicked as I don’t want to be the only one left here in sales (there are only 4 employees here, and two of us run sales) when he finally leaves so I’ve been frantically applying for jobs again. Hoping I can find something new soon, something that is also closer to my house would be extra nice.
So, yeah, an okay week with a few bumps. Hmm, maybe the stress is why I haven’t read much now that I think about it.
New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy
Ebooks
Look, I’ve been good! Only two ebooks this week. The first is a short story by Stephanie Burgis that I received for being her patron on Patreon, “By the Light of The Dark”. This is a re-telling of “East of the Sun, West of the Moon” and I’m super excited for it! I’ve really loved her re-telling of “Cinderella”. Burgis is fantastic at flipping tropes. 🙂
Next is a new Nancy Warren paranormal cozy mystery series – The Great Witches Baking Show. This looks like so much fun, I can’t wait to dig in, have a feeling this will be a very quick read.
That’s the news for this week, sorry it’s so short. See you next time!
Oh no, I hope your cat is doing okay!! It sounds like you had a stressful week.
Also, it looks like some great books, I hope you enjoy them💜
Thanks, Kaya! He’s doing much better. Just have to monitor him now to see if he starts up again with the litter box and if so then we’ll probably have to put him on regular meds to combat his stress.
Thanks! I hope so too. 🙂
I’m glad to hear that! I wish you all the best, and a lot of peace.
Thank you!
Oh poor kitty! Don’t you love it, you had to spend $600 to find out he has anxiety. I hope all is well soon😁
Yeah, I wasn’t happy about that but I am happy he is now doing better. Hopefully won’t have to put him on kitty prozac but we’ll see. Thanks!
Oh no for your poor cat – not to mention you with your $600 bill but these things are what they are. When my dog gets anxious he licks his paws and pants – it’s only usually if he’s left in on his own – which we strive not to do but sometimes is just inevitable.
Lynn 😀
Yeah, I think he’s been dealing with this a while because he was doing it in November too and I was going to take him in then but he seemed to stop for a bit and I thought he was okay but it got really bad this time around, poor guy. Now I’m just keeping an eye out, if it starts up again he might have to go on meds permanently. You can’t really do much in these situations other than roll with them and see what happens.
