Well, here we are at my best of the best list. These are the ten books that I’m going with as my top favorite books I read over 2019. These books are pulled from my first three favorites list which can be found here: Part One, Part Two, and Part Three.
It was SOOOOO tough narrowing this down. Overall, these are books that made me feel lots of feelings while reading them. I’m definitely one that connects to books on an emotional level so that’s what makes a book tops for me. If you’re like me, maybe you’ll enjoy these too. And if you haven’t already definitely check out my first three favorites posts, there’s lots of great books I read this past year and maybe you’ll find your next favorite among them. đŸ™‚
1. A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World by C. A. Fletcher
2. The Last Sun by K.D. Edwards
3. Dark Age by Pierce Brown
4. Wolfsong by T.J. Klune
5. The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang
6. The Kingdom of Copper by S.A. Chakraborty
7. Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
8. Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater
9. Silver in the Wood by Emily Tesh
10. The Girl with No Face by M.H. Boroson
So, that’s it, my final picks! Like I said, it was really tough to narrow this down to only ten books. There were so many books that could have easily made this list for one reason or another–there was just so much great SFF that came out this year, couple that with me getting to some back list stuff…well, it sure did make for a fantastic reading year. I can only hope 2020 will be just as fun and full of great reads. What do you think of my list? What are some of your favorites this year? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
Awesome list! I’m actually narrowing down my favorites to five on a post next week, which was very tough! Two of these are on that list, can you guess which ones??đŸ˜‰
Wow, five??? That’s braver than me lol!
Hmmm, based on conversations we’ve had…I’m gonna go with A Boy and His Dog and also The Girl with No Face? đŸ™‚
Yep!
LOL, I had a feeling. đŸ™‚
Amazing list! I STILL need to read Sorcery of Thorns haha.
I hope you get the chance, I really had fun with that one. đŸ™‚
I haven’t read a single book from that list but I really want to read A Boy and His Dog, Call Down the Hawk and Wolfsong! đŸ˜€
They’re all so good. A Boy and His Dog is definitely my favorite of the year.
I feel like it’s a surprise every time I see one of these posts. Didn’t expect a part 3 & 4 but I appreciate them. đŸ™‚
It’s really because I just couldn’t decide at first, there were so many great books I read last year!
The saga from S.A. Chakraborty is one I inted to read one of these days (hopefully, soon…) because I keep hearing great things about it!
I really love it, I hope you get a chance to check it out. đŸ™‚
I love these! A few of them are actually going to show up on my Top 10 on Tuesday, as well!
Thanks! Oh, awesome, can’t wait to see where we match! đŸ™‚
AAAAAH I can’t believe I haven’t got to read The Dragon Republic yet – there’s a 2019 gap I must remedy ASAP! (but first, I will likely read Silver in the Wood, which sounds delicious and which is stashed on my Kindle. I do love starting a year with a few novellas).
Dragon Republic is sooo good. There were just so many great books that came out in 2019 it was really hard to keep up. đŸ™‚ Hope you enjoy both of these when you get to them!
Great list. I still need to read the Boroson book which is outrageous considering how excited I was for the release, and, small confession, but I struggled a little to get into Dragon Republic and put it down – I will pick it back up again, I just don’t think I was in the mood for it over Christmas.

I’m a mood reader so I totally get it! I’ve had a lot of books I was really excited for that I just….put to the side. *glances at pile of books on end table* Hopefully when you pick up The Dragon Republic again you’ll enjoy it. It did take me a little bit to get into that one because Rin is so unlikable in it, but it really picks up and the ending slayed me.
Wonderful list! I hear such good things about boy and his dog at the end of the world- I really want to read it. I read Dark Age really recently and loved it! I’m definitely curious about Wolfsong and Kuang’s series. And I love the sound of sorcery of thorns- the concept is fantastic and everyone seems to love it! đŸ˜€ Call down the hawk was beautifully written as well đŸ™‚
I did the audio for A Boy and His Dog–that was great. Honestly my favorite book of the year, hands down. Dark Age took me on a journey of emotions–that book was WILD. I love Maggie’s writing in TRB and Call Down the Hawk–she’s just fantastic. đŸ™‚
Oh that’s awesome!! Yes!! And really agree!
