This Week in Reading: Making Very Slow Progress

Last week was another week where I finished several books (four) but only one was on my list of books to read this month (and only two were SFF, the other two were romances). Welp! At least I did finish one of the ARCs I needed to get to.

I didn’t get much reading done at all this weekend because I spent a lot of time out and about. I may have went on a bit of a shopping spree for myself and got myself some clothes. My husband was aghast that I didn’t have any jeans in my wardrobe and insisted on correcting that and I also needed to get a new coat (wound up getting two!). Then I bought some other things because weeee (I mean, why not, I was on a roll at that point). We also went to the movies and saw Knives Out which we really enjoyed.

Anywho. I had hoped to finish up two more ARCs over the weekend but that just didn’t happen. So, looks like I have a lot of work to do again this week.

I’ve made good progress on Angel Mage by Garth Nix–had hoped to finish it up last week but then I read those pesky romance novels instead, whoops. I’m enjoying this one a lot more now that I’m further into the book. Curious as to where the story is going and how it’s going to end up.

In audio, I’m a couple of hours into The Sinister Mystery of the Mesmerizing Girl by Theodora Goss. I should be able to get a lot of audio in this week because of the project I’m working on at my job, but we’ll see how things go. Loving this so far, so happy to be back in this world. It’s such a delight. I’m hoping I can finish it up by Wednesday or Thursday and start on a new audio (probably Steel Crow Saga) but it all depends how much time I get in.

After I finish up Angel Mage, which I should be able to do early in the week if things go according to plan, then I’ll be reading The Will and the Wilds by Charlie N. Holmberg. This is another ARC that I’m super excited for. I have a feeling I’ll love this one, I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by this author so far.

Those are my plans this week, let’s hope I can stick to them this time! What are you reading this week? Any thoughts on my plans? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

I’m keen to try Angel Mage!! I’ve been anticipating it for a long while now 😄 glad it’s starting to pick up as it goes along. Also – you didn’t have any jeans?! I think my wardrobe almost ONLY has jeans 😂 they’re my go to for everything but sleeping haha.

It’s been getting good, I need to get back to it tonight and dig in again. 🙂 Hope you enjoy it when you get to it!
Hah! Well, my weight has been an issue and it was tough finding some that fit and were comfortable. Now that I’ve lost a little bit of weight I’ve been able to find some that work for me again. (Still have a long road to go on the weight thing overall, especially as I’ve been really overeating this last month, but at least I dropped a size!)

There are lots of distractions this time of year, so I’m not getting as much reading done as I’d like either. I’m torn between catch up review books, January review books and personal books. I think that’s making my head spin, lol.

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I get paralyzed by indecision. Like I can’t make up my mind because I want to do all things but then can’t and then wind up doing none of those things and something completely different (or nothing at all) and end up even further behind. Hear you on the distractions too. This time of year for sure.

Thanks! It was a nice weekend out and about, took my mind off my anxiety and depression for a tiny bit at least. 🙂

Oooh, War Girls. Looking forward to your thoughts on that one. 🙂

Curious to see what you’ll think of Will and the Wilds. I received an ARC of that, and I want to check it out. But given that I had some mixed feelings about Smoke & Summons, I’m going to wait for some reviews before I take the plunge 🙂

Hopefully will get to it soon, I keep getting in my own way with reading lol. I’m pretty sure I’ll like it because she writes the type of stories I like and I’m pretty forgiving with certain things but we’ll see how it goes. 🙂

I need to get back to Angel Mage, and I will do eventually, but the start is a bit dry isn’t it. I put it down, which was a mistake because I now want to just read the books that will feel easier somehow. My bad.

No jeans?! How do you live?! What do you wear?!

Aside from my work clothes all I own is jeans. I used to work in a casual office so before my new job- life was 100% jeans, T-shirt’s, and flip flops.

I hope you found a pair you love! Lol. Also- I haven’t read any of these, but I would like to start Goss’s books sometime.

I was mostly wearing knit pants? I’m a big girl size wise and had outgrown my previous pair and gave up hope on finding comfy jeans that fit right. But now that I have lost some weight it seems I can fit in my old size again! I actually found three pair at old navy, they are a perfect fit and I’m really happy with them. 🙂

My current office is super casual. I mostly wear tshirts and such. I may or may not have worn pj bottoms to work before 🤣

Goss’s books are fun, quite adventurous and also somewhat self aware which adds onto the experience for me. Hope you get to check them out!
