This Week in Reading: Need Some Motivation

Well, last week was okay in some respects and not great in others. I finished two books, both audio. One was a self help book, which I enjoyed even if the whole ‘law of attraction’ thing always makes me roll my eyes. I do believe you should have your goal always in mind but I don’t think the universe will just manifest it for you because you think of it a lot. But who knows, I could be wrong. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anywho, books. I’m still reading The Girl with No Face by M.H. Boroson and Dreams of the Dark Sky by Tina LeCount Myers is also on my list again for this week. I really need to make an effort to get through these so that I can move on to other books on my list. I don’t really have any excuses except that I’ve been unmotivated when it comes to sitting down and reading, I have been turning my brain off a lot lately and binge watching shows instead. I suspect it’s a depressive phase coming on, we’re going into fall and the change in seasons often triggers it. Crossing my fingers that I can find the energy to stay motivated.

This week in audio, I’m super excited to be listening to Wicked Fox by Kat Cho. I really think this one will be my jam and I can’t wait to dive in. This is a shorter book so I should be able to start a second audio and I think I’m going to go with The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow, because I’ve heard nothing but good things about it and it’s made me hyped.

That’s really it for this week. Super hoping I can find my reading mojo! It’s tough because I have been sucked back into kdrama-land a little bit, but I’m sure I’ll get back to reading like a fiend soon. Hopefully. What are your reading plans this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat. Have a great week everyone!

I just finished January last night and OMG I loved it! I was in tears at the end (good tears). I’m hoping to start The Girl with no Face soon too. Good luck getting your reading emoji back๐Ÿ˜

Enjoy Wicked Fox! I’m spending more time in the car this month (yay PT!) so I picked up the audiobook for The Diabolic, which I read a few years back. Happy to say it is so far holding up on the reread!

Well if you like kdrama, I’m sure you’d love Wicked Fox! It’s got that similar sweetness. Yeah I’m struggling a bit with motivation as well. I hope we both get out of that. Happy Reading ๐Ÿ™‚

hehe I’m honestly relieved I’m not the only one who always rolls my eyes at law of attraction stuff ๐Ÿ˜‰ Sure, positive thinking can help lift your mood and change your perspective… but it doesn’t have the power to change the world around you. Anyway, curious to hear your thoughts on wicked fox!! Really want to read that one!

Exactly! I also don’t like the way it feels like it’s blaming people for bad things happening to them. LIke they’re just not thinking positively enough or don’t want things enough, so they don’t get what they want. That’s kind of BS, you know? I really enjoyed Wicked Fox, hopefully will have a review up soon-ish, still pretty behind in them LOL

Yeah I really agree with you there! And I’ve basically been told as much by people that believe in it :/ (also, people that believe in the power of positive thinking don’t tend to get how depression works tbh) Oh great! hehe I can understand that!

      • waytoofantasy says:

“people that believe in the power of positive thinking donโ€™t tend to get how depression works tbh” YES, THIS. They’re the same people who tell you to just ‘get over it’ or ‘don’t worry, be happy’. UGH.

I hate losing my reading mojo – it happens sometimes but usually when I’m reading a book that I’m not loving – I’ve had to learn to put those type of books down.
