This Week in Reading – Catching Up on My List

Despite having another crazy week last week, I did manage to make some progress with reading! I finished up one more eARC and another two books on my Summer TBR list, while starting a third. Yay!Β  I have a total of two more eARC’s I need to get through by the end of the month, only one of which is on my 20 Books of Summer list. I also have my HEA Book Club selection, but thankfully it’s a shorter read. It will be interesting to see if I can juggle all these books I have committed to for the rest of the month–as of right now I’m not doing too bad, all things considered. πŸ™‚

As for blogging, I’m mostly caught up with things. I think I have one review waiting in the wings, and I have a couple of other posts to work on, some general maintenance to do, but nothing that is terribly time consuming. Hopefully I’ll do better at visiting everyone’s blogs in a timely manner this week.

Also, I SPOKE TOO SOON YESTERDAY. My run of bad luck is continuing. Yesterday afternoon my husband and I went to go out and discovered his car isn’t working. We think it’s a switch but he’s had to get it towed to the shop to figure out if that’s it or not. So right now both our cars are out of commission. I think I may be officially cursed. One of my friends said that when people try to better themselves the bad spirits that have been attached to them, feeding off their negative energy, act up. So that could be it too. Either way, I ordered some sage and it should arrive here by tonight and I’m going to smudge this house from top to bottom. Salt on the doorways after. I’m not playing around anymore, this bad energy needs to get out and stay out.

Anywho. Back to reading. πŸ™‚

First up we have Storm of Locusts by Rebecca Roanhorse. I just started this one yesterday, but am enjoying it so far–I love being back in this world! This should be a pretty quick read, I don’t foresee it taking me a long time to get through it as long as I manage to get some reading time in.

Next up is Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. This is the last official audiobook I have on my Summer TBR list! It’s over 18 hours long so I’m hoping to finish it up this week, but we’ll see how things go–it really depends on the book. I’ve had this one in my audio queue for a long time and I’ve been looking forward to it because I’ve heard great things, it’s going to feel good to finally start it!

I’ll be reading our HEA book club selection this week–Peter Darling by Austin Chant. I don’t know a whole lot about this one, but from the blurb it sounds like something I’ll love. It’s only about 200 pages, so it should be a quick read. I guess I’ll know sooner rather than later if it’s for me. πŸ™‚

If, by some miracle, I manage to finish up my audiobook this week, the next one I’ll be starting is Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto. For print books, I’m undecided. If I manage to squeeze in another print book this week, it may be a romance (I have several waiting in my kindle app), or I may try to start one of the other books on my Summer TBR list. We’ll see how things go. Either way, I’m going into the rest of this week with optimism–after all the bad luck, I feel like this is the best way to approach things. So, those are my plans this week. What are you working on reading? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

Oh no- sorry to hear about the cars! I just went through a bout of bad luck with my car- had to get it repaired, still wasn’t fixed, had it towed TWICE. Not fun. I can relate.

That cover of Peter Darling is pretty amazing.

Thanks, my husband should find out today. Apparently once he had the car towed up to the shop it started fine. He’s left it up there and is checking it again today before bringing it home. Hoping it works because the shop has no official appointments available for 2 weeks out. (We had some flash flooding in the area last week which apparently has all the local mechanics booked solid).

I’m so sorry to hear about all your bad luck! I’m sending you lots of good vibes to help counteract it. Palo santo is also good for cleansing, and it smells so nice!

Yes Storm of Locusts!!! So happy you are liking it. And yes it should be a quick read 😁 I have seen Peter Darling around and I have it on my TBR but I didn’t realise it was only about 200 pages. Sweet! I hope you like it and I look forward to read about your views on it 😊
