The Sunday Post #5

thesundaypost

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Random News And Goings-On

Well, my husband was away all last week. I missed him greatly, but I also really enjoyed the peace and quiet in the house. Stressed about our upcoming HVAC installation tomorrow. I have to get up super early and herd three cats into carriers and take them over my parent’s house, get them set up over there for the day so that they’re out of the way of the installers and have access to a/c (it’s supposed to be 94!). I’ll be so glad when this is done and we have all our new equipment and don’t need to worry about either the furnace or the a/c breaking down every other season.

Went over our friend’s house Saturday night for board games and such. Fun times. I didn’t get as much reading in as I wanted to, but I’ll have a full update on that tomorrow. 🙂

New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy

Audiobooks

sots-cover

I really enjoyed the first book of this series, Shadow of the Fox, so when my audible credits came in this month I couldn’t help but pick up Soul of the Sword by Julie Kagawa. It will probably be a little bit before I get to this one still though, still trying to work through that 20 Books of Summer TBR. The good news is that I’m quickly catching up in audio books!

Ebooks

I picked up Changeling and Fledgling by Molly Harper after seeing Fledgling on a goodreads giveaway. How can you not love a series called Sorcery and Society? Come on! These look like exactly the kinds of books I love. Hopefully will be able to get to them soon.

Posts to Check Out from the Book Blogging Community

Mogsy @ The Bibliosanctum filled out the Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag combined with a mid year roundup. There’s some really great books listed here, worth checking out if you missed it.

Ruby @ Ruby’s Book Blog is counting down her Top 10 Book Series. Lots of great series on this list!

Evelyn @ Evelyn Reads has a glowing review of Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau-Preto. Love to see such enthusiasm, especially since I should be getting to this one soon myself. 🙂

Zezee With Books is prepping her TBR pile for the N.E.W.T.s Magical Readathon. I LOVE these Harry Potter themed reading challenges, the idea of completing certain kinds of books means you completed a course–genius!

The Fantasy Inn has a guest post from author K.S. Villoso: On Food and Pointy Things. If you like food, and how it can relate to world building, you’re going to want to check this post out.

Consu @ Paper Eyed Girl has a fantastic post trying to answer the question, Why Are Adults Reading YA? Great post on a fascinating topic.

That’s it for this week’s news, see you all next Sunday!

I remember when we finally replaced our ac/furnace, we had been battling every year with it not working, but it was hard to let go of that big chunk of money! But of course totally worth it. Good luck!

Yes, this is exactly our journey! I’m just glad that it held out as long as it did. We’re in a much better position to deal with the cost now than ever before, so I guess in some ways it’s fortuitous. Now I’m just hoping my bathroom holds out until we can get it remodeled next year, because it desperately needs an upgrade, everything is falling apart, and we won’t have the funds until next summer. Crossing my fingers! (Ah, the joys of homeownership LOL)

Thanks for the link up! And hope everything will go smoothly for the AC, it did get hot over the weekend, didn’t it? I’m also hoping to get to Soul of the Sword soon, I’m doing audio as well and I’m looking forward to it!

I’m hoping the installation doesn’t take too long today because it’s supposed to get up to 94. It will be nice to have a thermostat that wasn’t made in the 70’s… 🤣
Hope you have a great week!
