Well, I was going to try and attempt another reading marathon over the weekend since it’s too hot to do anything but stay inside anyway, but then I got hung up on marathoning Veronica Mars instead. I have never seen any of Veronica Mars but I’ve always wondered why fans are so passionate about it (still remember that kickstarter and half of my twitter timeline going crazy over it years ago). Really enjoying it so far–I’ll probably end up watching more of it during the week (instead of reading, again).
I made some progress with books this week, but not as much as I would have liked. I finished three books – two romance novels and A Song For a New Day by Sarah Pinsker. I won’t have an official review up for that one for a while yet, but the tl;dr is I really enjoyed it. I still haven’t caught up on reviews and such yet either, so my blogging isย really starting to fall behind, but I’m not worried, I’ve been behind before.
This week I’ll be starting Under Ordshaw by Phil Williams. Very much looking forward to reading this one, the cover is intriguing and I like going into books with no expectations.
I’m almost finished Forever Fantasy Online: Last Bastion by Rachel Aaron and Travis Bach. Loving this book a lot. It’s very long but it doesn’t feel long at all. I wasn’t in an audiobook mood much in the beginning of the week or else I’d be done this one by now.
Next up in audio is a thriller, The Night Before by Wendy Walker. Again, don’t really have many expectations of this one, but in the mood for something a little different and my hold checked out from the library just in time.
If I get through Under Ordshaw I’ll be starting An Illusion of Thieves by Cate Glass. I’ve really been looking forward to this one since I LOVE Berg, very much interested to see what’s she done here under this new pen name.
I’ll probably finish up both audiobooks this week and start a third. If that’s the case, then I’m planning on staring Priory of the Orange Tree (finally–that tome!). This is another really long one, so even if I get a chance to start it this week, I know I’ll be working on in through next week too.
This is my plan, at least. We’ll see if I stick to it. I also feel like I’m on the verge of a mood-read binge. What are your plans for this week? Leave me a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
I can’t wait to start A Song for a New Day, and I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed it! I think it comes out next month, right? So not long to wait๐
I think it comes out in September, if I’m remembering right. Still, not too far off with how fast this year is flying by! It was different. Hope you enjoy it! ๐
I’ll be keen to see what you make of Priory of the Orange Tree – it’s a book I’ve had on my mind for a while.

Yeah, same. I actually picked up a copy of this a while ago but after I read Ruin of Kings I wanted to take a bit of a break before I started another tome. Will let you know what I think of it!
Finishing off Wicked Fox (hopefully today), and then back into WORDS OF RADIANCE! Since WoR is a book I like to really sit down and focus on, I decided it wouldn’t be a good line read while I was running around SDCC, so I swapped over to a few quick books for the weekend. Let’s see if I can finish this thing before the end of July!
Really looking forward to seeing your thoughts on Wicked Fox–I kind of want to chuck my reading schedule and dive into that one and Spin the Dawn but I’m trying to behave myself. Good luck with WoR!
I adored Illusion of Thieves. I hope you do too!
Thanks, I’m really looking forward to it!
You’re not alone when it comes to feeling like you haven’t made as much progress as you would have liked, I am sooooo behind! Currently reading Sorcery of Thorns, and The Toll by Cherie Priest, hopefully I’ll finish those up soon because there’s not too many days left in the month and I still have a huge July TBR pile!
Glad I’m not alone but hope.we both catch up! Looking forward to your thoughts on both of those but especially Sorcery of Thorns. Good luck with the rest of the month!
I’m trying to make some progress in the books I’m reading. I need to finish them by next Wednesday the latest because I want to begin the NEWT readathon fresh. Just hanging out with friends and reading this weekend. That’s the main plan. Somehow I need to fit in watching Stranger Things.
Progress is all we can try for. ๐ Good luck! Saw your post about the NEWTs, looks like fun! Hope you have a great weekend.
