Favorite Five Books With Yellow Covers
Yellow covers are so hard to find! For books I’ve read and in sff–this was a tough list to come up with. As a result, some of these may be more orange-y than yellow. 😀
The Girl With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey
I absolutely love this book. I may or may not have cried a bit reading it. Also, it helped going into this one not really knowing what it was about, I think. This was one of those books that connected with me on an emotional level because I felt such empathy for Melanie, the main character.
The Lives of Tao by Wesley Chu
This book was so much fun and I can’t believe I haven’t read the sequels yet still. One of my favorite things about this book is it it takes a character who is really going through life kind of aimlessly and gives them confidence and a purpose. I also love that there’s somehow a training montage…in print…and it works. The concept is pretty cool too!
Beauty by Robin McKinley
Well, those of you who have been following me for a while probably know how much I love Robin McKinley. She’s one of my favorite authors and known for her original stories as well as her many fairy tale retellings. Beauty is her YA retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I love this one, even though it doesn’t have the weird dream like quality that Rose Daughter does, but this one is also super good! It’s interesting to compare and contrast the different BatB retellings she’s written. 🙂
Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater
I really enjoyed Maggie Stiefvater’s Wolves of Mercy Falls series. This book was like a little icing on the cake staring two of my favorite characters that I shipped (shipped so much!). This book has a little bit of a different feel than the others in the story, not only is it centered on two other characters, but it’s also a huge change of setting as well. Worth checking out the series, Stiefvater is great.
The Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold
I really love Lois McMaster Bujold, so I’m not sure why I waited to read this series for so long. Once I started, I marathoned the main books pretty quickly. She writes such a lovely blend of speculative fiction and romance, it’s always sort of my jam. I also love the concept of World of the Five Gods books, the whole demon possessed magic thing is pretty interesting.
Those are my choices for this week, what do you think? What are some of your favorite books with yellow covers? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
