Ah, well….last week I didn’t get much reading in. I only finished one book–The Defiant Heir by Melissa Caruso. The good news is that I really enjoyed that book! The bad news is that now I’m a little behind in my reading. Welp. Summer happens, I guess! A combination of work being busy, having a lot of social events, and getting sucked into television shows (marathoning seasons 1 & 2 of Outlander, as well as season 3 of Stranger Things) didn’t leave much time for reading.
Also have been a little busy with house stuff. Our dishwasher was going up so we went out and bought a new one on Sunday only to come home and later realize that our central air conditioning wasn’t working. Wonderful! I love everything in life so much right now. O.O The repairman is coming out Thursday (same day as our new dishwasher), so hopefully it can be fixed and we’ll only have to suffer through a couple days of unbearable heat. At least it’s supposed to be cool today!
Anywho. Hopefully I’ll catch up on my reading soon. I will have a bit of extra time at the end of the month as my husband is leaving for a week to go out of state with his mother on a trip to visit his grandmother–although I’m not yet sure if I’m going to take that opportunity to binge read while the house is nice and quiet or get some home projects accomplished. Time will tell!
I’m only about a quarter of the way through Touch by Claire North, but enjoying it so far even though I find the telling a little confusing–still, it does put me in mind of The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August in several ways. My audiobooking was abysmal last week. Hoping that work will be less crazy this week, we’ll see how it goes.
Next up in audio will be the second FFO book by Rachel Aaron and Travis Bach, Last Bastion. I really loved the first one and it was also my first LitRPG book! The characters in this one are so much fun, I’m really rooting for them. This is a longer book, so I probably won’t come close to finishing it, and we’ll see it here again next week.
In print, I’m still working my way through The Spec Set by Taya Okerlund. I’m about half-way through to this one. It’s fun and easy to read, but I just didn’t have the time to commit to it last week. Hopefully things will go better this time around.
Lastly, A Song For a New Day by Sarah Pinsker. Still really looking forward to this one and I’m determined to start it this week. Somehow I’m just going to have to make time! (Where is that time turner when I need it, huh???)
So, those are my plans, again. 😉 What are your reading plans this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
