This Week in Reading: Full Steam Ahead!

Well, so much for relaxing. πŸ˜€Β  I had a great week in reading last week and managed to finish all five of my books on my reading list, huzzah! Before you’re too impressed, two of them were nearly finished going into the week, so that helped. πŸ™‚ I finished up my two audio books pretty fast and ended up starting a third despite a million phone calls at work interrupting my listening time. And then I was feeling under the weather on Friday so I stayed home, but ended up getting a lot of reading done so there’s that. The weekend was mostly relaxed and full of reading, although we did go out to breakfast with my in-laws for Father’s Day so that was nice.

I’m doing pretty good about knocking books out of my TBR pile for the 20 Books of Summer reading challenge. I’ve got three down and twenty-two to go! Hopefully I can keep up this momentum but I’m so beholden to my mood, I never really know what I’ll want to pick up next even when I try to plan it, lol!

Right now I’m listening to Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson. I’m really loving this one so far, it’s totally my kind of jam (you were right, Caitlin!). The audio book is a tad ‘whisper breathy’ for me as a listener, but that’s more of a me thing than anything. πŸ˜€

I’m not sure what I’ll be listening to next. I’m on the wait list for Touch by Claire North at the library and that could auto check out at any time so if that happens, that will be my next listen, if not I’ll have to look through what I have on hand that isn’t too long.Β  Oooh, mystery.

Next up is my eARC of The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang. I LOVED The Poppy War and have very much been looking forward to this sequel. I think what Kuang is doing with this series is all kinds of brilliant and I can’t wait to see how she goes about it.

If I get through that one, I’m going with something a little more light and hopeful because I think I’ll need it, so it’ll be The Beast’s Heart by Leife Shallcross. I love retellings, and I especially love retellings of Beauty and the Beast. This one is a shorter book so depending how much reading time I get, this one shouldn’t take me long to get through, provided I get a chance to start it this week.

Those are my plans for the week. Have you read any of these? What are you reading this week? Leave me a note in the comments, I love to chat!
