Hi all! It’s been a little over a month since my last update. I’m still in a bit of malaise but doing my best to work my way out of that. I’ve begun therapy and this week we’re supposed to come up with a treatment plan so I’m excited for that. Hopefully will get me on the right path and give me some tools to manage my anxiety.
As far as reading goes, I have actually read a few things–mostly romance but some fantasy and fantasy romance. Hilariously I still haven’t finished The Name of All Things yet even though I only have like half an hour left just because I haven’t touched an audiobook for months. Let’s see…since my last update I’ve read eleven books! Three contemporary romance, two historical romance, two fantasy romance, one sci-fi romance, one sci-fi novella, and two fantasy books (both of those rereads). The rereads were Wolfsong by T.J. Klune (let’s face it, that’s also sort of a romance) and Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson (also has a pretty decent romance in it!). The only book I’ve read lately that didn’t have any romance was A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers which was lovely because it’s Becky Chambers and everything she writes is pretty much perfection.
Right now I’m reading another fantasy, the latest in the Chronicles of Elantra series by Michelle Sagara–Cast in Conflict. Can’t believe we’re on book 16 of this series! I love it though and am deeply committed to it. I just started this one but it’s always a comfort to be back in this world. She has the 2nd of her spin off prequels about Severn coming out next year and I’m looking forward to that as well.
I do have a couple of books that have arrived for review so I may actually try to get to those because they’re both things I’d mood read anyway. Some other new arrivals have trickled in as well.
The Mast of Mirrors by M.A. Carrick and The Obsidian Tower by Melissa Caruso I have read and loved both of these! I just didn’t have physical copies and wanted them for my shelves. This supply chain issue has got me panic buying books y’all.
Notes From the Burning Age by Claire North and The Hand of the Sun King by J.T. Greathouse were both from Goldsboro, probably my last of those purchases for a while. I cut off book subscriptions for a bit as I was getting super backed up in books. Of course I also have a bunch of preorders that will be rolling in soon haha. Eventually I’ll catch up. Or not.
So, that’s about it. I’ve been spending the last month trying to have fun when I can and binge watching dramas and trying to read. I did also get my sewing machine out of storage and it works so I may start a small sewing project soon just to practice. We’ll see what happens.
I’m not up to getting back into my regular schedule just yet but I do hope to start posting some reviews and stuff again soon, hopefully in the next couple of weeks. My goal is to get back into the swing of things this Fall (which is just around the corner!).
Hope you’re all doing well! Stay safe out there friends.
So glad you’re back
Thanks!
Good to hear how you’re doing – sending my best wishes as you find a path through the coming months.
Thank you! ❤
Good to know you’re getting back into your “groove”: take it easy and don’t push yourself, things will work out sooner or later. And we’ll keep the porch light on for you 😉
Thanks! I’m trying not to force myself to do anything, don’t want to make things difficult for myself again. Just trying to enjoy what I can. 🙂
Thank you! ❤
Welcome back! I’m glad things are starting to look a little brighter for you. ❤
Thank you!
Nice to see you blogging again, Lisa😁 I love seeing those Goldsboro editions, they are always so pretty! Take care.
They are really lovely books. And they package them so well! Lol
Thanks, Tammy! You too.
Welcome back Lisa!! Take your time in coming back fully. I’m glad to see you are starting to get back to yourself fully hopefully you would out a plan to help you even more.
Thanks, Misty!
It was such a lovely surprise to see a post from you on my feed, Lisa! ❤ Sending you all the warmth and love, and so happy to hear that you're feeling a little better!
Thanks, Mary! ❤
Welcome back! Hope you were able to relax a little, and it sounds like you’ve been going your own pace with things, so that’s good. Excited to see your sewing projects, it’s always great to dive into a hobby 😀
Thanks! Yes, have been trying to relax as much as possible. 🙂
Hopefully my sewing project will go well! Although it’s mostly for practice because it’s been forever haha.
Great to see you’re back 🙂 and thanks for reminding me of those Goldsboro editions. I only go on their website when you post about them because the only time I remember to, lol.
Great to hear how you’re doing as well. Take your time getting back into the groove things. We’ll be here. 🙂
They have such lovely editions! When I have the extra money it’s worth to invest there for my book collection 🤣🤣
Thanks! I am really hoping to be back to the usual soon. Taking some time off has been helpful.
Hey Lisa!!! Just checking in… Great to see you 🙂
Thanks, Paul! It’s great to be here. 🙂
Sorcery of Thorns is one of my favorites ever, it just checks all of my happy boxes. One day I’ll get back to the Chronicles of Elantra series, though I’ll probably need to start over at this point!
Same for me with Sorcery of Thorns! I loved her other book too. I can’t wait for the new one, I’m super excited for it. 😀
Chronicles of Elantra is sooooo long lol. I’m wondering what her endgame is for this series but I’m happy to keep reading them in the meantime. 🙂
Becky Chambers books are on my tbr, I’m not sure if I should start with Angry Planet or the recent novella, both sound amazing!! Great to see you back! I’ve missed reading your posts!! 🥰✨
The recent novella is anew series so either works! The new one is also very slice of life. Her work has always been so but has gone a lot more in that direction as she has grown as a writer.
Good to see you getting back into things. Little by little has become my motto 😀
Lynn
That’s a great motto!
