This Week in Reading: Working on that TBR

Well, I didn’t mean to not blog for a week but here we are. I have just lost so much motivation. I don’t know if it’s some kind of Summer blues or what lol. What I have spent my time doing is reading, gardening, and watching some shows. I also washed my car last week, which may not seem like a big deal but it had been a really long time so…lol. I also was looking around for weekend getaway places and discovered a lovely Bed and Breakfast a couple hours away called The Book Lovers Inn and they have a Jane Austen suite so I totally booked that for the first available weekend which is in mid-August. I’m super excited for that! And then of course I somehow managed to hurt my back/hip area over this past weekend, hopefully that will heal up soon and it’s nothing too serious.

Last week I read 4 books — two adult contemporary romances (The Professor Next Door by Jackie Lau and The Intimacy Experiment by Rosie Danan), one YA contemporary romance (Jay’s Gay Agenda by Jason June), and one YA historical book (The Downstairs Girl by Stacey Lee). They were all enjoyable reads.

This week I finally got back to reading Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. I’m really loving this so far, the style of writing is cool and I’m interested to see where the story goes.

I did ZERO audiobook reading last week, whoops! I just haven’t felt like it. I’m hoping to get back to it soon because I’d love to finish up The Name of All Things by Jenn Lyons before the end of the month. This has been a really fun book so far, I just haven’t felt like listening to books lately. It almost makes me miss my commute, lol.

There will probably be other books I read this week too but I’m not sure what they’ll be yet. I have so many to choose from, which is great, but also that means I sometimes freeze up because there’s too many to choose from and I want to read them all! LOL! Anywho. Hope you’re all doing well! What are you all reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

I’ve lost my blogging motivation a little bit too. Half the problem though is that I’ve been all work and hardly any play. It’s going to take me over a month to read Pet Sematary. We have a vacation planned in July so hopefully that recharges the ol’ batteries. That bed and breakfast sounds awesome!

I think work stress has played a part in things but honestly my new job is so much less stressful for me so I don’t know why it’s hitting me so hard lol. Hopefully we both get recharged soon!

I loved GODS OF JADE AND SHADOW! And, I’m halfway through THE HOUSE OF ALWAYS, which is the 4th book in A CHORUS OF DRAGONS series! You’re going to love how that series progresses!

I really need to work on getting through A Chorus of Dragons series faster! They come out so quickly and they’re such tomes–it’s hard to keep up. 🙂
I’m really enjoying Gods of Jade and Shadow – sadly haven’t had much time to read this week though.

It’s all good Lisa! Blogging will always be here when you’re in the mood. I’ve definitely decreased my output this year, and I’m making myself accept that that’s alright. Just finished Catalyst Gate last night (which as FANTASTIC), on to a new Spellslinger book this week!

That break in August sounds amazing. I can’t wait to see what you make of it.
Hope your back and hip feel better soon – take it easy, put your feet up and read something that makes you smile.

I’m so curious on your thoughts on Jay’s Gay Agenda! I ended up really not liking it toward the end and found it immature, though that seems to be the theme for my reading this month.

I did like it a lot because the feelings were there and it also reminded me of my best friend growing up because when he finally came out and he moved to New York for a bit he had a bit of a ‘gay awakening’ if you will that felt really similar to the story told. So it didn’t feel inauthentic or anything even in its immaturity. Buuuuuuut, I agree that the immaturity still got on my nerves a bit!
