Hello all, hope everyone is doing well and had a wonderful weekend. I did some shopping and some gardening and lots of eating (but still within my calorie budget so I didn’t go too crazy with food haha). I’ve gotten a lot of new clothes recently because I’m down a size (yay!), so I’ve had fun shopping for some new things. Anywho. Reading. Last week I did read a lot, every day, but mostly I spent time binge reading webtoons. I think if I had to guess I read the equivalent of 20-30 manga vols worth of comics. So…that’s a lot but not counted on my goodreads goal because there’s no easy way to do that lol. I also finished one YA fantasy novel which was light and fun and had a bit of a romance to it. Romance is my jam lately. I guess I’m still going through some depression and anxiety things and romance is like my ultimate comfort reading.
I think for right now I’m not going to try and plan what I’m reading. I do have some books I’d like to finish. I also have some reviews I’d like to write. But I’m just going to let my mood dictate things and try not to stress. (I always say that and yet I can’t quite escape my own expectations in my head…). So…I will instead say what I’m in the middle of reading because after I finish those I have no idea what will be next.
I’ve read one of Jackie Lau’s romances before and really enjoyed it and The Professor Next Door caught my eye when I came across it somewhere on the internet (I think it was on a list of recommended romances coming out this year?) so I thought I’d check it out.
I’m also still finishing up The Name of All Things by Jenn Lyons in audiobook. I hardly had any audiobook time last week but I may start working on my new dollhouse kit this week–if I do I’ll be able to finish this one up pretty fast because I only have about three hours left on it. This book is really fun and so much less confusing than the first book. Really digging this series.
Other than these I have no idea. I may go back to The Jasmine Throne if I feel like it or check out another book on my TBR. We’ll see where my mood takes me. What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
Yay for the shopping!! And for being down a size, you did great!! 🎉
Thank you! Yes, I love shopping a little too much sometimes haha.
Glad you’re finding the stuff you need reading-wise. One of the reasons I personally don’t do goodreads goals anymore is cos it puts stress and constraints on what ‘counts’. Webcomics are what you want to read right now and that’s all that matters 🙂
I’m reading The Four Profound Weaves by R.B. Lemberg at the mo. It’s a novella exploring gender identity in a fantasy world and how different cultures and societies treat gender identity differently. One society is very accepting and has a cultural ritual where you basically get to decide your gender and can magically ‘transform’ if you want to, and the other society has very rigid gender roles. The two main characters are both trans and come from each of the different societies and explores how they deal with how society treats trans people.
Enjoy your reading!
I just started reading Son of the Storm, so far so good!
Thanks, Evelyn! Hope you had a wonderful week and enjoyed your book!
I’m going to for sure be continuing with The Dark Half by Stephen King and The Passage by Justin Cronin beyond that I don’t know what I’m going to pick up. Congrats on being down a six that makes amazing. I’m working on losing weight and it’s definitely hard.
I hope you’ve been enjoying your reading Misty! Yeah, I’m excited that I’m down a size but I still have a very long road to go. Weight loss is definitely tough!
I hardly ever plan my reading haha! I hope you have a great reading week ahead!
It’s hard to plan, especially if you’re a mood reader! 😀 Thanks, I hope you had a wonderful week. 🙂
I’m just about to throw my plans out the window, too. I’ve read six books so far this month, and I’ve only liked two of them, and one of those two was hit or miss right until the end, so, realistically, I’ve really only liked one. I’m giving my Pride TBR one more shot, and then calling it a wash and switching back to fantasy because WOW, I have read a lot of truly awful contemporary in the last two weeks, and I don’t think I’ve got it in me to keep trying.
It’s so tough trying to stick to plans for me right now. Usually I can do loose plans but even those are shot lol. Good luck with your reading Mary. I hope that you get some good reads. I inadvertently wound up reading a lot of queer romances this month so go Pride haha. 😀
Don’t constrain yourself to plans right now. Read exactly what makes you feel good.
And well done with dropping a dress size and the shopping.
Lynn 😀
Thanks, Lynn! I’m doing the no plans thing and it’s feeling pretty good. 🙂
