Hello all! Hope you all had a good weekend. I ended up getting zero cleaning done but instead since the weather was so nice my husband and I went to a local park and did some (very mild) hiking. Then we had some yummy food (in moderation) and did some shopping. I got a new dress! That is way too long on me but nevertheless I love it. Overall it was a great Sunday even though I didn’t get any reading done because I’m also in the middle of binge watching a Kdrama from last year. π
Anywho. Last week I did have a pretty good week in reading. I finished four books – an audio (The Guest List which was a great thriller and I definitely recommend it), a SFF novella, and two SFF graphic novels. Not a bad week at all although I seem to once again be stalled on my ebook. Ah well.
Once again in ebooks I’m working on The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri. It’s not that I’m not enjoying it, because I am! I think it’s just a matter of not prioritizing ebooks at the moment. My focus is all over the place so I’m finding that physical books are working better for me at the moment. That being said, this is a really inventive world here and I’m keen to read more of it. Hopefully I can make a huge dent this week!
In audio I started The Age of Witches by Louisa Morgan. This, like the previous witch book I read by her, is a bit of a family drama. However it seems to focus on the same characters rather than going through the generations. Although I’m still somewhat early into it so I guess we’ll see where it goes. I’m enjoying this one a lot, I really love her writing and how she portrays different sides of the characters.
As far as physical books, this week I’m checking out The Library of the Dead by T.L. Huchu. I’ve only just started this one but so far I *love* the voice of the story. Also it’s sort of an urban fantasy which is my jam. Can’t wait to really dig into the meat of this one.
Overall my reading is going pretty well. If I finish up either of my print books not sure what I’m going to read next. Although I do have one more book from my April TBR that I haven’t started yet so maybe that one. I hope you’re all doing well and have a fantastic week! What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat.
You did great with your reading!! And which kdrama are you watching? I hope to find some time to relax and go back to them soon! I have started Romance is A Bonus Book and I Hear Your Voice but I have to find the time to keep watching them!!
Thanks! I’m watching Nine Tailed Fox Tale? I think it’s called? It came out last year. Pretty fun so far.
I really love Romance is a Bonus Book–I’ve watched it at least twice lol. I Hear Your Voice is one of my faves.
I haven’t bought new clothes since COVID as we are not going out these days. Moreover it’s too hot here to go out during day and government has announced lockdown from night 8 to morning 6. There is no scope of going out with surge of cases. I’m reading The Dictionary of of Lost Words by Pip Williams.
Oh wow, hope things calm down there soon. I don’t think we’ll ever go back into lockdown, the US being what it is with its priorities.
I like buying clothes sometimes even if I don’t have anywhere to where them to lol
Enjoy your reading!
Sounds like you had a fun weekend! I’m sure many would rather be out and about after a year of being indoors π Yay for clothes shopping too! I can’t wait to check out The Jasmine Throne and I’m loving this cover for The Library of the Dead! Haven’t seen much of this title around but I’m curious. Happy reading and have a great week ahead π
Yeah it was a really great weekend overall. It was nice to enjoy the weather!
Thanks, Dini! Hope you have a wonderful week as well.
Looks like you have a pretty good reading week ahead. I can’t wait to start The Library of the Dead, but I’ll probably wait until its release month. Have a good week!
Yeah it should be a good week if I can pull myself away from this drama enough to get reading in haha. I got Library of the Dead from Goldsboro–the UK release must have been earlier than the US or something, I keep forgetting its not out here yet. Thanks, Tammy! Hope you have a good week too.
Ooh, I’ve been so curious about The Jasmine Throne, so I hope you continue to love it! I’m trying to get through Six of Crows this week so I’m all ready for this weekend, and that’ll probably remain my focus with some brief sidesteps into a Shakespeare retelling anthology.
Unfortunately I have had about zero time to read so far this week and tomorrow I have to clean and then we’re having a friend over for the first time since January 2020 to play some board games. Maybe Sunday though! What I’ve read so far of the new Suri I’ve loved. π
I love Six of Crows, that duology is fun. I haven’t read the original Grisha trilogy yet though. I still want to watch Shadow and Bone but probably won’t get time for a bit. That anthology sounds fun, hope you enjoy(ed). π
Happy to see you liked The Guest List. I’ve read two by Foley now and enjoyed both.

Yeah, I thought it was really good!
