This Week in Reading: Romance is Getting Me Through

Well, once again I didn’t read what I had HOPED to read last week. This is becoming a reoccurring theme for me lately–I feel like I always struggle trying to stay on track in the Fall. And this year I’m also super busy with all kind of things in my personal life so. Yeah.

I finished three books, all of them contemporary romances. One was a reread–Red, White, and Royal Blue–I think this was the 4th or 5th time now–that book is such a comfort read!

I have a LONG list of things that I need to get done this week and I spent all weekend working my butt off (all my kitchen stuff is now put away and organized! yay!) to get a huge head start so that I can hopefully finish up all the housework over the next couple of days and then just concentrate and blogging and reading before I start my new job next Monday. We’ll see how things go though–somehow I never seem to be able to stick to a plan lately.

I started Bonds of Brass by Emily Skrutskie. And then I remembered I have an audiobook out on loan from my library so switched over to that. I’m enjoying Bonds of Brass so far! The characters have a great dynamic and it’s a fun pew pew type of space opera.

I am hoping to start The Fated Sky by Mary Robinette Kowal later today. Hopefully will tear right through this book but it really depends on my mood and time and…yeah. But I’m hopeful it will be a quick read for me because I absolutely loved the first book.

Other than that, I’m still reading Shine by Jessica Jung and then I have four manga out from the library that I also want to get through this week so I can turn them back in (this is one of the items on my to-do list, actually!). We’ll see how things go though. One thing I’m absolutely planning on doing this week is getting caught up with blog hopping so expect a lot of comments coming later in the week. 🙂 What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

I took five days off of blogging, and while I normally take the weekend off, the additional three days just about did me in with blog hopping. I’ve been catching up since last week, and it’s been so fun, but phew, I am glad to be at the end! It’s weirdly stressful to have a lot of outstanding posts to read, especially when I know they’re going to be enjoyable!

I’ve been trying this new thing where I put two books next to my laptop every night (I leave it out on my desk for the next day), and those are the two books I’m allowed to read. I really struggle with reading more than two at a time, and I usually pick different genres for each, so it’s been working out so far! I just started A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, and it is both delightful and something I definitely would have written, so I’m enjoying it a lot. And if, MAYBE, I stop procrastinating, I can finally start Adde Larue, but who the heck knows! I just keep rotating it in and out.

It’s going to take me soooo long to catch up hahaha. If I had time I’d totally keep up with it because playing catch up feels like a chore sometimes hah. I do love reading everyone’s posts though! It’s fun to see people’s thoughts on things.

Oh, that’s an interesting idea. I have tried setting one out next to where I sit in the living room but that doesn’t seem to work as I just ignore it LOL.
Oh, that sounds like an interesting book, I can’t wait to see what you think about it. Anything with tea in the title has me interested hahaha. 🙂
Stop procrastinating? If you figure that one out, definitely let me know the secret. 😉 Have a great week, Mary!
