This Week in Reading: Progress at Last!

Well, I FINALLY managed to finish up the book that I’d been reading all month long. Yay~! I also managed to finish up the other eARC that I had waiting for me so I’m happy to announce that I now only have one more book for review in queue and it’s scheduled for December. I’m going to try really hard not to go on Netgalley and request any books. ๐Ÿ™‚ So anyway I did manage to finish up four books (two speculative fiction and two romance) last week so that’s great!

Also, my renovation is almost finished! Bathroom and kitchen are both pretty much done, just have a final walk-through and a few things on the punch-list to check off. I’ll have more on that on my next Sunday Post.

Other big news—I got a new job! Putting in my 2 weeks notice today and then I should start my new job as an office manager on the 16th. Possibly sooner if my current boss decides to tell me to kick rocks, I guess we’ll see how that goes. Or maybe I’ll take a week or two off in between jobs. We’ll see what happens.

Anyway, there’s been A LOT going on and it will be a little while before things settle down yet, but I’ll be happy when I can get back to some kind of normal routine. Whatever that means now days. 2020 is a year of change indeed. So, sorry I’m so far behind in blog hopping. I’m hoping to catch up on that soon, but as you can imagine I’ve been super busy! Even though I had off half of last week I was running around and working on house stuff and going on interviews, etc.

Right now in audio I’m listening to Shine by Jessica Jung which is very much NOT speculative fiction, but is a story about young people in the Kpop business written by someone in the Kpop business. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m enjoying it so far. But when I finish this up (it’s pretty short) I’ll be listening to Bonds of Brass by Emily Skrutskie. Thought this one would be a fun read for SciFi Month.

In print, I’ll be starting The Fated Sky by Mary Robinette Kowal. This is one I’ve been meaning to get to for some time but I just keep putting it off for whatever reason, why am I like this????? Heh. Excited to get started on my November TBR!

Because things are a little up in the air right now with my personal life (sooooo much going on all at the same time, whyyyy) I don’t know how things will go with my reading this week. Oh, and we also have that election thing going on as well tomorrow. So. We’ll see how it goes. *crosses fingers and hopes for the best* What are all of you planning on reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

Yeah, time is very weird. It feels infinite and yet it also seems to slip away with the wind… haha.
Thank you! I’m excited for the change. I’m hoping this week isn’t too crazy but we’ll see.

Thank you! It feels weird to finally be moving on, and like I keep thinking something bad will happen before I’m able to start the new job, I don’t know why my brain does this! But I’m happy to be getting out of my old workplace as it was extremely toxic.

Bonds of Brass has been fun so far! There’s a space prince! ๐Ÿ™‚

Congrats on your new job ๐Ÿ™‚
I have the first of the Lady Astronaut books on my TBR pile, and have just finished the first Glamourist Histories book by the same author, which I really enjoyed, so I’m really looking forward to starting that.

Congrats on your new job!!! That’s so amazing, I’m so happy for you! Thank goodness you’ll be moving to a hopefully much better environment.

It’s been such a weird week. The elections already happened at this point (super late in blog hopping after five days away), and though we’re hanging around in day four of wondering what the hell is going to happen, reading has been such a solace for me, and I’ve read SO MUCH in the past few days to just try to ignore everything else that was happening. I’ve been writing a lot, too, and honestly, thank heck for all the words because, otherwise, this election stress might have damn near killed me.

Thanks, Mary! I’m excited for a fresh start.

Yes, this week is SUPER weird. I’m glad they finally called it today, phew! It was getting a bit exhausting. Good luck with your writing! โค

Congrats on your new job, very happy for you ๐Ÿ˜€ Plus that election thing turned out pretty good in the end too! Hope you read some good books to top it all off.

So happy for you with your new job – and of course, being behind, I now know the result of the election – those were crazy times and still more rough times ahead by the look of things?

Thanks, Lynn! Yes, I feel like I’m always behind now but doing my best to catch up haha.

Yeah, not really sure what’s going to happen. I will give T***p this…he is a master cult leader and he’s got his base convinced that the only words that come out of his mouth are the truth…it’s very strange times.
