This Week in Reading: Not What I Should Be Reading

Well, I DID read three books last week, but none of them were the books I was supposed to be reading. Whoops! I really shouldn’t have tried to veer too much from my mood reading plan because, apparently, I just can’t keep on track on anything right now. Oh well. I read two romances (one novel, one novella) and one SFF book which was ridiculous and fun.

Other things going on the past week–I spent the weekend catching up on blog hopping and I’m almost 100% up to date now! I also spent the weekend attending one of our local conventions, CapClave–but virtual this year! Lots of great panels and readings and other things, I wish I could have seen friends in person but I’ll take what I can get this year being what it is.

My birthday is this coming Saturday. I’m trying to be excited for it. My husband, so far, has gotten me a book and also some fancy macarons from a patisserie and I’ve been eating them with tea and they are divine. ❤

So, I’m making progress on Dracula’s Child by J.S. Barnes! It’s slow going because I keep stopping to read other books, but I’m about 30% in and things are really picking up. I’m continuing to enjoy the way this one is written so close to the original.

I’m also still listening to Shadowglass by Rin Chupeco in audio. It’s good to be back in this universe! I’m really loving this one, you can feel how the frame story and the flashback are getting closer and closer and I can’t wait to see how everything meets up!

If I manage to finish up Dracula’s Child I’ll probably start Spellbreaker by Charlie N. Holmberg because it’s one of my last ARCs I have hanging around and the book release is coming up next month. 😀 We’ll see how things go though, I’m hoping that this week will go well and I won’t get too distracted again. What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

Oh I was wondering whether the frame narrative continues in the other Bone Witch books. I hope to finish it tomorrow and get back to the books I should be reading for my bingos and readathons

Ha ha, I’m never excited for my birthday either. Our wedding anniversary is Saturday so we sort of share a celebratory date?? And i say go with the mood reading. I’m tempted to do the same.

Oh awesome! Yep! You got married the week before Halloween, that’s awesome! 🙂 Congratulations!
Thanks! Yeah, I have 2 ARCs that I really need to finish but other than that I think I’m just going to go where my mood tells me. It’s the only thing keeping me sane right now LOL

I’m in the midst of finishing up my Halloween TBR, and none of them are really appealing to me right now, so I keep falling back on RWRB, particularly with the election looming, so I definitely feel the vibe for some comfort reads. Hopefully, we can both stop running off to other books and finish what we started!

I always get so behind on blog hopping too haha, I’m having a nice cup of tea and relaxed Friday night catch up now in fact. Happy birthday for tomorrow and hope you’re still enjoying those macarons.

Right?! I’m behind again! I think it’s just because sometimes I need a break haha.
Tea sounds great! I’ve barely had any lately, I can’t wait until my kitchen is done being remodeled so that I can get my life back together haha. Thanks! It was a nice relaxing birthday for the most part. 🙂

Well, since I’m so behind on blog hopping and I’m only getting around to it now, it’s Saturday and that means it’s your birthday? Happy birthday!! 🥳 Hope that you manage to have a good day despite all the craziness that 2020 has shoved into our faces ❤️
