The Sunday Post #41

thesundaypost

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Random News And Goings-On

Well our bathroom renovation started and should be finished up soon, very much looking forward to our brand new bathroom (the room was completely gutted) and no longer having to pee in the basement toilet. πŸ™‚ The kitchen renovation is supposed to start at the end of this week when the bathroom is done. Everything is chaos and I can’t wait for this to be done so I can properly clean my house and put everything back together.

Because of the renovation being stressful, work being extremely stressful, the pandemic and general state of the world, and several other personal issues that happened this past week….it was a very tough week emotionally to get through. Friday night I hosted a zoom party on a whim and lots of online friends stopped by and I think a good time was had by all but I was also a little drunk so….hopefully I didn’t make too much a fool of myself. πŸ˜€ Hopefully things will be better once I get on the other side of this renovation–only 3 weeks to go (ahahahahahahahahaha).

New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy

Physical Books

Only one new book – A Dance with Fate by Juliet Marillier. I had already read this because I wound up getting an eARC but I had also pre-ordered this because I knew I’d want a physical copy. πŸ™‚

Ebooks

I didn’t go totally crazy binge buying ebooks again so that’s a positive. But I did pick up a few new ones.

  • The Sugared Game by K.J. Charles – My pre-order came in, yay! Read this one almost right away, loving this romance series so far!
  • Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles – I….somehow forgot I pre-ordered this? Hah. πŸ™‚
  • Heart of Stone by Johannes T. Evans – a romance recommendation from a friend, but also vampires!

Audiobooks

Only one new audio this week – I used my other credit to pre-order a book that comes out at the end of the year so that I don’t forget about it. πŸ™‚

  • Beowulf: A New Translation by Maria Dahvana Headley – picked this one up after sampling it because it feels like a translation for a modern reader, something that will make the story more relatable and I’m all about that.

So, that’s it for this week, see you next time!

Good luck finishing up the renovations, I feel like the kitchen will take longer? But maybe not. I’m just living vicariously through you because I would give ANYTHING to be able to renovate my super out of date kitchen and bathroom😁

I think they said two weeks for the kitchen but maybe it will take longer haha. I know they are not doing the floor in there like they did the bathroom so hopefully it shouldn’t take too long!
Also if it makes you feel any better the kitchen and bath hadn’t been touched (much) since this house was built in 1960! It wasn’t just outdated but falling apart (literally) and we haven’t had a working oven for about….8 or so years? So….this is more out of necessity than anything haha. Also we took out a huge loan for this so I look forward to paying that back over the next 5 years LOL. But I do think it will feel great when this is all done. πŸ™‚ I won’t have to bake everything in a convection oven on the counter anymore! I’ll be able to bake more than 6 cookies at a time! What a time to be alive lol.

I’m glad your bathroom is almost ready again. πŸ™‚ That sounds super stressful.

Also, major kudos to you on restraining your book purchases. I recently bought all three Scythe books, but in my defense I read the first and loved it so I am invested in the series now.

Renos are always stressful times, but I hope it’ll be well worth it once it’s all completed 😊 Sorry to hear things were extra tough last week, but it sounds like you had a good time with your Zoom party! Lol how fun πŸ™‚ Hope you have a great and less stressful week ahead!

We did get to pick out the final tiles for the bathroom yesterday and talked about the finishing that we’ll do for the kitchen and that’s been exciting because I can see in my mind how it’s going to look. It’s just a lot to deal with while going on and then we’ll have a big clean up to do after because there is dust everywhere now.
Zoom was definitely fun haha. πŸ™‚ Thanks!

I’m sending you lots of low stress vibes and quick renovation wishes! We only had a new fridge delivered today, and that nearly caused several meltdowns, so I can’t imagine what a whole kitchen reno must feel like right now. Just think about how much you love our new bathroom, and that’ll be your kitchen in no time!

  5. Zezee says:

Oh yea yo. I know how crazy stressful it can be to have all that work going on in the house and how hectic too. But when it’s all done, you’ll have a stunning, new bathroom and kitchen. πŸ™‚

Yep, I also understand the stress of renovations, not to mention the dust – don’t get me talking about the dust. You just have to hang in there – or more to the point accept that chaos will be king for a short while and then miraculously everything will come together, you’ll clean it all up and it will look amazing and you’ll keep wandering around, making excuses to go into your new rooms and look at them again and again.
But, you’re still managing to read and those little escapes will keep you sane I feel.

    • waytoofantasy says:

Oh yes, the dust is everywhere. I will have to do a thorough house cleaning when all things are said and done.
Thanks, Lynn! I’m really looking forward to the end result, I think the rooms are going to look amazing. Hopefully the bathroom will be done by the end of this week and I can at least bask in the joy of that haha. Thanks for the words of encouragement. ❀
