This Week in Reading: Making Great Progress

I had a pretty fantastic reading week last week and managed to make a lot of progress with books I’ve been trying to read/finish reading for a while. I finished FOUR books (two of them I was almost finished going into the week), all of them SFF. I got my ‘currently reading’ down to three books from a high of six. Phew! I also managed to finish up the last (overdue) eARC I had outstanding and now my netgalley queue is clear, wooooo! *throws confetti*

Over the weekend I caught up on some blogging stuff (finishing books means reviews start piling up) and spent some time reading (both audio and print). I didn’t get in quite as much reading time as I had hoped but it seems my mood was all for blogging instead of reading!

In print, I started The Death of the Necromancer by Martha Wells over the weekend. I’d hoped to finish this one but I guess I didn’t feel like reading print all that much! So I’ll be finishing that up this week. This is an interesting gaslight fantasy with some mystery and…possibly a revenge plotline? It’s intriguing so far!

In audio I’ll be reading Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey. Excited to finally be starting this series, I’ve heard so many great things about it. I’ve had this one in my audio queue for a little while now and it’s high time I give it a whirl. This is one of the books I have down for my r/fantasy book bingo challenge and I’m also reading it for 20 Books of Summer so crossing this one off my list will be a major win. I hope I enjoy it! 🙂

The audio is long so will probably take me at least all week to finish up. If I finish up the print book, not sure what my next print choice will be. Now that I’m done all my absolute commitments, I’m in a sort of ‘let’s see where my mood takes me’ journey. Of course I do have books on lists I’d like to get to for various challenges and such but somehow they don’t feel that pressing. Mood reading=happy reading. What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

Can I just say that I’m in awe of you clearing your netgalley shelf? Every time I try and take a real stab at it, there’s a flurry of books appear on it that I just can’t refuse. Determined to get it under 20 though (on 25 right now!). I’m also really excited about Leviathian Wakes – looking forward to hearing what you think about it!

Haha, thanks. I’ve just gotten really great at not requesting books unless it’s something I’m 100% planning on reading and even then I still don’t request much–it makes me too anxious when I’m behind!
25 isn’t all that bad, I’ve seen a lot worse. 😉 You can do it!
I started Leviathan Wakes last night and so far it’s good, it’s like a detective story in space with all kinds of political stuff happening…

I have abandoned a TBR list – too stressful for me. However, I have a shelf with unread books on it! i’m almost finished reading the first volume of A Song of Ice and Fire – I’ve been saying this for quite a while now. I love it.

My list is all books I already own–I have a TON of unread books in my pile and it’s gotten way out of control lol.
Glad you’re enjoying that one–I started it once and even though I was loving it I put it down and got distracted by other books lol.

Thanks! I was going to read that one because I still haven’t read it yet but I decided to go with this one instead because I picked this one for one of my reading challenges and I felt I should make the attempt lol. 🙂 Hope you enjoy Network Effect!

Congrats on clearing out your NetGalley queue! That’s amazing. I’m starting to panic because July is half over and I still have so many July books to read😬

Lol agree! “mood reading = happy reading”
I’m reading Feed by Mira Grant and am really liking it so far simply because it’s a zombie book, lol.

    • waytoofantasy says:

I haven’t read any of her Mira Grant books, I really do need to read more of Seanan’s books though. Although I got mad at her on the internet last year and I’m still on a break from that so I haven’t even read her new Wayward Children novella….lol. Anyway, looking forward to your thoughts on that!

Well, if anyone should be panicking round here I think it should be me! I’ve had a blogging and reading holiday and I’m now in a bloody mess. Oh well, It is what it is.
