I have felt very BLEH all week, surprise surprise. I….don’t know what’s wrong. Like….I’m reading but mostly romance novels and just escaping into whatever has FEELINGS and stuff. It feels completely and totally ridiculous to feel like I’m in a slump when I finished SIX books last week — 4 romance novels and 2 sff novels (two of those books were re-rereads as well). I guess because I’m not reading what I feel like I should be reading it feels like I’m not making progress. I didn’t even START A Curious Beginning so now I’m like ‘when will I get to that??’. Sigh. But thank gods for romance novels because they’re basically saving my life right now.
I mean, I know what’s wrong–obvious depression is obvious–because I just don’t feel like doing anything lately. My to-do list is pathetically untouched. Housework is piling up. Other obligations aren’t being met. I’m not behind in blogging but I’m not as ahead as I once was… I went into the three day weekend like ‘I’m going to get so much done’ and then promptly laid around and…did some reading and watched some tv. Oh well.
Last week of the r/fantasy virtual con! It’s been a loooooong event and I’m so happy with what we’ve pulled off during this time, all the work that went into it was immense! Shout out to every mod that helped contribute to organizing this event but also to all of the authors and other industry folks that stopped by and joined in!

I started Race the Sands by Sarah Beth Durst in audio and enjoying it so far even though I didn’t get very far into the book. Hopefully will be able to finish it up this week but it really depends how much audiobook time I get while working.
I decided to say ‘get lost’ to my TBR pile and start Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat because my friends keep going on about how much they love this series and I trust their judgement–they haven’t led me astray yet.
And that’s it. I mean I may or may not binge read a bunch more romance novels, who knows! It’s crazy times and everything is crazy including my reading so we’ll see. What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
I hope you would feel better, but at least you are reading! And I hope you would enjoy Captive Prince, it is really… Peculiar, but I loved that series!
Thank you! I don’t know when this depression will ease but at least I have reading. I’m enjoying Captive Prince so far! It’s….yeah I can see why this book isn’t for everyone. But the story is so engaging.
I am glad you are enjoying it! (I think that you have finished it, if I remember correctly what I have read on twitter) (and sorry, this sound a tad stalkerish!!!!!) anyway, I am glad you enjoyed it! And I hope you would find a ton of other entertaining reading in this period!!!!
I actually just finished book 3 this morning hahah. No worries–that’s what social media is for LOL. 🙂 I loved the series.
Just remember, it’s ok to feel like this, like you don’t want to do anything.
Hope you feel better soon ❤
Thank you! ❤
About to finish book 1 of the Libriomancer and having my eye upon the Goblin Emperor. More than one book a week isn’t for me.
Everyone reads at their own pace! Hope you’re not feeling pressure to push yourself too much.
Hope you decide to pick up The Goblin Emperor–it’s a favorite of mine and I’m always curious to see what others think of it. Have a great week.
From reviews I read of it: it’s easier to become an emperor than to be one.
Sounds about right.
Enjoy your reading! Glad you’re enjoying Race the sands so far!
I’m currently reading Chosen ones and (re)listening to Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire!

Nothing wrong with a little re-reading–I did that myself last week. 😉 Enjoy!
You should just read what you want right now, Lisa! It will just stress you out more to force yourself to read books you think you should be reading. I’m getting lucky these days and most of my review books have been really good, but that could change at any time😁
Thanks, Tammy! That’s basically what I’m deciding to do this week and probably for all of June as well. I think I only have 3 books on my June TBR lol. I’m so glad that you’ve been getting lots of great reads, that’s awesome! My review books have been good too, so there is that. I’m almost all caught up now. PHEW. 🙂
Just read what makes you happy, times are strange enough and you don’t need to give yourself the additional stress, plus you did all that organising for the con.
Lynn 😀
Thanks, Lynn! Yeah, that’s what I decided and I honestly already feel a little bit better for it. 🙂
Don’t be so hard on yourself. It is a crazy stressful time. If you got up today, made it through the day, then you are winning. Everything else is gravy.
Thanks, Beth! ❤
I hope you feel better this week, don’t worry about blogging or reading too much, you’ve been so productive💜
Thank you, Kaya!
Reading only what you feel comfortable reading is a medicine in itself: why turn the joy of reading into a chore? 😉
Things WILL get better, it’s only a matter of time…
Yeah, I forget that sometimes although I’m trying to get better about it. 🙂 Thanks! I believe that too.
I also had a really bleh week last week! It was weird, so maybe there was something in the air. This week is a little better, but honestly, I’m starting to feel like “hurry up, May, let’s just skip ahead and start afresh.” Which, yeah, months are arbitrary, but I’d like it to just be June already.
I think part of it for me was the weather, it’s been so overcast lately! I feel you, I’m ready for a fresh start, whatever that is. Also excited for June!
I’m sorry this week has been hard. I hope you feel better soon. 💖
Thank you! It’s been a lot of ups and downs but hopefully soon more ups. 🙂
