Yay, it’s that time of year to start gearing up for Wyrd & Wonder. This is a month long blogging event hosted by imyrilLisa, and Jorie celebrating all things Fantasy! Of course, I’m all about Fantasy here at WTF, so I absolutely love this event. This is a time for me to show some extra love to my favorite genre. You can find out more about Wyrd & Wonder or sign up for it here.

A Wyrd & Wonder TBR

This year for my Wyrd & Wonder reading I’m going to focus on some titles that have been in my TBR for a little while that will also make good mood reads. Look, it’s tough being a reader right now. I don’t want to read too many….heavy books right now. So I’m going with some things that I know will probably bring me some joy and not weigh me down. 🙂

The Shores of Spain by J. Kathleen Cheney

This is the final book in The Golden City trilogy. I admit I’ve kind of been dragging out reading this series, partly because I don’t want it to be over. Cheney’s become one of my favorite authors–I love the way she blends fantasy, romance and mystery in her books. Very much looking forward to this one and also finishing up a beloved series!

The Absinthe Early by Sharon Lynn Fisher

I picked this up last year and I keep meaning to read it but you know, intentions and all that. Now is the perfect time to dive in though! Very much looking forward to checking this one out. 🙂

A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn

I’m super excited about this book because it looks like EXACTLY my type of story and I can’t thank Mary from Sophril Reads enough for sending this book my way. <3<3<3

The Waking Land by Callie Bates

This is a book that keeps ending up on my TBR lists and not actually getting read. Let’s see if third (or fourth?) time’s the charm! I’m going to buckle down and make this one a priority.

Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker with art by Wendy Xu

My husband bought me this one for Christmas and I haven’t gotten around to it yet. It should be a quick read and looks like something I’m also in the mood for so bring it on! I’m ready!

And…that’s it as far as my TBR. I’m not putting too much pressure on myself for reading for this event, going to keep things nice and chill and see what happens. And if I don’t get to these, you know what? That’s OKAY. Mood reading is OKAY right now. If all I can concentrate on are happy fluffy books and that’s what gets me through the next month and even the the next one, that’s what I’m going to do. Anyway. We’ll see how this TBR goes. 😀

Very much looking forward to another Wyrd & Wonder event, last year was so much fun! In addition to reading, I should have other fun posts coming up related to some of the prompts for this year. 🙂 Are you joining in Wyrd & Wonder? What are your plans for it so far? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!

Mood reading are great and sometimes they are really needed! I hope you would enjoy The Absinthe Earl! I have prepared a short TBR for Wyrd and Wonder, but I tried to keep it short (because I don’t know for sure since at the moment it is almost impossible for me to plan ahead, but I have the strong impression that May would be a really demanding month for me) and fun.
And I am looking forward to your posts!

Thanks, Susy! Totally understand making a short TBR. I feel like this might even be too much to officially commit to but I can’t help myself when making lists haha. Hope you’re able to get some good reading in!

I love the idea of mood reading this month, and I’m planning a mix of review books, catch up review books and non review books. But with a “mood” twist, so I can pick from my pile depending on how I’m feeling that day. Should be fun!

    • waytoofantasy says:

Yeah, I usually do a bigger TBR so I can just pick from the pile like that but I went smaller this time and we’ll see how it goes. Mood reading seems to be a ‘mood’ for May! 😉

    • waytoofantasy says:

I may give Mooncakes a read this weekend if I finish up my current book. I’m excited for it. 🙂
I’ve heard really good things about The Absinthe Earl! Hopefully it will be just what I’m in the mood for.

  3. Lisa (@deargeekplace) says:

Mood reading is always legit, and especially so right now, I’d say. This is a good-looking TBR, and it reminded me that I actually got The Absinthe Earl on Kindle ages ago – let’s hear it for random impulse buys! 😀

  4. Maryam (@thecurioussffreader) says:

Mood reading is good, sometimes TBR are fun but other times, you just want to pick up whatever you want when you feel like it and, it’s completely okay!
The Waking Land sounds very good, I think I have a copy somewhere but, I also seem to forget about it for some odd reason…

    • waytoofantasy says:

Yes, exactly! I need at least a good month of mood reading to refresh myself. 🙂
I have been meaning to read The Waking Land for a while, I too keep forgetting about it…

  5. @lynnsbooks says:

Yep, let the adventures begin. I’m looking forward to this and hoping to cram some backlist books in – plus I’m joining the readalong of the Goblin Emperor.
Hope you’ll join the discussions for that.
    Lynn 😀

    • waytoofantasy says:

Oh, I was excited to see that there’s going to be a reread of that book as it’s one of my favorites. I might drop by the discussions even though I won’t have time to reread it right now. 🙂

    • waytoofantasy says:

It does have a pretty heavy romantic subplot but the books are a mix of fantasy, romance, murder mystery, historical fiction! This is the last of the trilogy and I’ve waited a bit to read it because I don’t want it to be over.

  6. Sammie @ The Bookwyrm's Den says:

Yaaaay! I’m doing this, too. Any chance to talk about fantasy, right? 😉 Your TBR looks great. I’ve heard wonderful things about Mooncakes, and I really want to give that a read eventually, too. I’m actually kind of still reading A Curious Beginning now, too. xD I hope you end up loving it! Can’t wait to see what sort of fantasy posts you come up with this month!
