The Sunday Post #29

thesundaypost

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Random News And Goings-On

Of course things continue to be weird BUT I think I’m finally starting to get used to being home all of the time? Last weekend I had a 4 hour zoom party with some of my friends and we stayed up til midnight chatting. Did another zoom party this Saturday. It’s nice to talk to people! I never thought I’d miss talking to people so much, seeing their faces. I’m an introvert and all of this ‘alone time’ (well, my husband is here of course) seems like it would be a dream but it’s really not.

Also last weekend my husband and I had a board game day and we played Tapestry. It looks like a Civ game but it’s really not, the civilization stuff is mostly for storytelling of the game, it doesn’t have too much to do with the mechanics. It’s a super fun game though and you can play different variants with 2 people, you can even play a solo game.

It was nice to finally get some ‘free time’ since I’ve been so busy with extra curriculars lately (I have a habit of throwing myself into things). During the week work was pretty slow on Thursday and Friday so I used the extra time to start the reorganization project for our office/craft room. It’s nice to not have the windows blocked as much and let more light in. I’ve also uncovered my crafting table so I can…do crafts if I get the urge I guess. 😉 Going through the craft supplies was pure hell because I have SO many of them. Some things I did donate (well, put in boxes to donate whenever things open again) or throw away so there was a little bit of a purge. 5 bags of trash and 5 boxes/bags of donations! Marie Kondo would be proud, I think.

Other than that, still working on organizing stuff for our ongoing r/fantasy con, keeping up with blogging, doing some reading, and I also edited episode two of our r/fantasy modcast so that should be out soon. Busy busy busy!

New Book Arrivals at Way Too Fantasy

Physical Books

Only one new physical book. Thanks much to Mary @ Sophril Reads for gifting me A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn. I have discovered from following Mary’s blog that we have very similar tastes when it comes to reading because almost everything she blogs about is something I’d like to read! I just need to get out from under some of this TBR and then I’m going to dive headlong into some of the books she’s talked about on her blog. 🙂  Probably going to read this one sooner rather than later as it looks like something that will fit my mood well at the moment.

Ebooks

One new ebook this time around, I picked up Too Like the Lightning by Ada Palmer yesterday because it was on sale and I couldn’t resist it. 🙂

That’s it for this for this week, stay safe out there book friends! Let me know how you’re holding up, leave a note in the comments, I’d love to hear from you. ❤

I am glad you have found some balance! And I am so curious about the second episode of the modcast! I am truly enjoying the first one! (I haven’t finished it yet because I listen to it in small bites but I am enjoying it a lot!)

I might be the only person who hasn’t had a zoom meeting or get together, lol. I miss my coworkers and family but otherwise this staying at home thing isn’t that much different from my normal routine. I know, I’m super boring! Have a good week, Lisa!

You’re not boring at all, Tammy! My ‘normal’ routine is only upended because of all my volunteer activities online making me so busy lately haha. Normally I’m quite happy to stay in all the time. But not seeing people for this long is getting to me *just* a bit. 🙂 Thanks, hope you have a good week too!

A Zoom party sounds like a really good idea and like a ton of fun! I keep saying I’d love to stay home, but I hear everyone going stir crazy at home, and now I have my doubts. xD I should be picking up A Curious Beginning soon, too! I absolutely love the covers for that series. They’re so gorgeous. Have a good week!

It was fun! I was a bit stir crazy but talking with friends over video chat and staying busy with projects has helped!
I love the cover too, if looks like exactly my type of story. Hope we both enjoy!
Thanks, hope you have a great week too!

I’ve been having tons of group chats with friends too and it has been so nice! ❤ It's great being able to catch up with everyone and with all this tech and options, it's so easy!
I have Too Like the Lightning on my shelf and I picked it up on sale ages back too! I'd never heard of this book/series or author before so it was really mostly a cover buy 😂 I haven't heard much about it either. I hope you enjoy it 😀

I am definitely going a little stir crazy about now. Not sure entirely why, although my reading and concentration are terrible so perhaps that’s why. I feel like I should be doing lots of things and then I get overwhelmed and so do none of them. LOL
    Lynn 😀

“I feel like I should be doing lots of things and then I get overwhelmed and so do none of them.” I know EXACTLY what you mean. I’ve been writing a daily ‘to-do’ list and started blocking out time like ‘from this time I’ll work on this’ and ‘from this time i’ll work on this other thing’ and tackling things bit by bit seems to be helping.
