Well, my reading continues to be not fantastic. I’ve had a REALLY tough time trying to stick to any sort of plans! I did manage to finish two books–Jade City by Fonda Lee on audio and Briarley by Asten Glenn Gray in print. Focusing has been hard again this past week even though I had slightly more free time (am still working on organizing virtual con events and I recorded two podcasts over the weekend so still somewhat busy…). Apparently I’m only in the mood for certain types of books right now. Welp!
I spent Saturday having a fun table top game day with my husband (we played Tapestry–it was really easy once you get the rules down because there’s a lot of little parts to that one) and then Saturday night I had a hangout via Zoom with two of my friends. We talked for almost 4 hours, it was great to see them. We’re planning on hanging out again soon and maybe even doing one of those Netflix parties. Everything continues to be weird but at least we’re settling in to a new kind of normal.
Anywho. Let’s talk about some fun stuff going on this week!

Now for my planned reading. Oh, it looks a little light this week, right? Well, that’s because I don’t really know what I’ll be reading this week other than Night of the Dragon by Julie Kagawa. This is one that I’ve been looking forward to ever since the last book came out because THAT ENDING. I’ve already seen a couple of really positive reviews of this final installment so I’m sure I’m going to love it and I hope it will leave me emotionally wrecked in the best way possible. (Sometimes you just need to be put through the ringer!)
I’ll be squeezing in some other print books as well. Luckily I have some good ones to choose from my April TBR, although I may or may not just read whatever I want to. I’m having a real issue with reading anything that’s not happy or at least has some kind of happy ending right now and I think I’m just going to do what’s best for my mental health at this point, even if that means going off schedule. On the one hand I feel guilty about not reading the books that I promised to read (whether that promise was to myself or someone else) but on the other hand sometimes you just have to do what’s best to get you through the day.
Hope you’re all doing well out there! I got behind but I’ve slowly been catching up on blog hopping. Hoping to stop by some of your posts soon! What are you reading this week? Leave a note in the comments, I’d love to chat!
Can’t wait to hear your thoguhts on Night of the dragon, and to read it myself!

I just started it and it’s great to be back in this world. ๐
I’ve heard amazing things about Night of the Dragon, but I haven’t started that series so I won’t be reading it anytime soon. I think you should just mood read right now, I’ve been doing that since we started staying home and it’s working great.๐
Yeah I’m excited to mood read tbh. ๐
Totally understand not wanting to start a new series too! I’ve got a million of them lol.
I feel you on the reading. I keep trying to schedule in books I “should” be reading, but then I start dragging my feet once I start them, so I really feel like it’s just got to be what’s absolutely calling to me, which is mostly happy books right now. We have to survive somehow!
Yes exactly, that’s what’s been happening to me. I need to switch to pure mood reading. Yup!
Oh, I so look forward to tomorrow’s AMA featuring John Gwynne! He’s one of my favorite authors… ๐
And thanks for reminding us!!!
Hope you enjoy! You’re quite welcome. ๐
I hope you enjoy Night of the Dragon, and have a good week!๐
Thanks, I did, it was fantastic. ๐
I can’t wait to hear what you think of Night of the Dragon! Prepare for some major feels in the ending ๐
I’m almost 30% done and it’s soooo good. I’ve been hearing the end is full of feels so I’m definitely getting myself ready for that lol. ๐
Aww, hope you have a better week this week. Sometimes we just need to break from reading or the usual types of books until you feel like sinking into them again.
Thank you! Yep! I think I just need to binge some romances for a bit lol.
That virtual festival looks so cool, great job to you & everyone involved in putting it together!
Thanks! The three of us that are doing the bulk of the work had a 2 hour planning meeting over zoom the other night since we’re finalizing April’s events and moving into scheduling stuff for May. It’s a lot of work but also rewarding! The panels so far have been great.
